Review for Knights of Heroes Foundation - Rocky Mountain Ascent, Colorado Springs, CO, USA

Rating: 5 stars

This organization goes above and beyond. My son and daughter both have attended and benefitted from this camp. They offer mentorship and guidance for children who have lost a parent due to world conflict. They also encourage the campers to return after they age out to be junior mentors in order to keep the program moving forward. This program is all about giving back, finding purpose, and having a great appreciation people and their communities through service projects. It's about not taking things for granted and showing respect and appreciation. This is a superior lead and organized foundation.

My son has attend Knights of Heroes for several years now. This camp gives him experiences he would otherwise not have had as a result of the loss of his father in Afghanistan. It also gives him an opportunity to bond with other boys who have suffered a loss because of the war on terror. Some of the benefits of this camp for my son have been an increase in self-confidence, sense of belonging, and an appreciation of others through service work. KOH plans fun activities, helps them give back through the service projects, and provides many volunteer mentors who support and look after our kiddos while at camp. This is a great organization and am very thankful for the opportunities they have awarded my son.

Knights of Heroes gives my children the opportunity to connect with adult mentors through fun Colorado outdoor activities like whitewater rafting, hiking, and mountain biking. The mentors/volunteers involved in the camp are exceptional. Their commitment to my children extend throughout the year, not just during summer camp. My daughter has just returned from her 4th year of camp and my son his 3rd. Because of this foundation my children have had the opportunity to bond with other teens who have lost a parent that served in the military. What I personally admire about KOH, as a mom, are the values they strive to instill into all of their campers…responsibility and leadership to name a few. I also like that KOH includes a community service project during camp to "give back" and the kids that age out of the program are encouraged to return as junior mentors. Pure greatness!
