Review for Our Military Kids, Inc., Oakton, VA, USA
Our Military Kids has provided three grants for my daughter to take horse back riding lessons. They also gave us tickets to be able to attend the International Horse Show one year. Lillie has been able to expand her horsemanship skills because of the grants she's been given. We both are very grateful for the assistance they have provided.
Review for Wounded Warrior Project, Jacksonville, FL, USA
Without WWP and the services and activities provided I wouldn't be where I am in my recovery from PTSD and MST. WWP has allowed me to reconnect with other military members and shown me that I am not alone. For the longest time, I thought I was. I found that there are others who get it. They understand what I'm facing and help provide support when the demons come knocking on the door. Without the 12 ladies I met on a Project Odyssey, I would still be hiding in my home afraid to confront the world. I'm slowing healing, and I owe a lot of my progress to WWP. They have provided me more opportunities to be in the world and interact with other people that I would not get to do otherwise. I've been able to take my daughter to the circus and attend a concert. Four years ago, I wouldn't have been able to do that. I am able to do those types of activities because I'm "safe" with my fellow WWP Alumni. WWP has also helped kick start me to get healthier. Through Soldier Ride, I have found "my thing". I found the freedom of riding and the knowledge that I can accomplish what I set out to do.
There are no words to describe the gratitude I have for WWP and its staff members. Everyone I have met has gone above and beyond to help me in my recovery. WWP is my main link to the outside world. Thanks for being the organization you are.
