Review for The Grey School of Wizardry, Whitehall, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

At first I wasn't sure about entering the school. It was compared to Hogwarts multiple times and it looked a bit like a wannabe Harry Potter project. Don't get me wrong, I like Harry Potter, but I'm not a fanatic. So I decided to first read the Grimoire for the apprentice wizard, a book that is used in many classes that are offered at the Grey School. I really enjoyed it. I'm a pagan myself, my path has a lot in common with eclectic Wicca. I've been a practicing witch myself for a while now, and I can assure that this is not the Hocus Pocus nonsense I thought it might be, it looked a bit fluffy. But I've learned great things that I haven't read in the most popular books in the pagan community, like the ones from Scott Cunningham for instance. The staff is so nice and the whole interaction thing with other students is so much fun.

There are many challenges and even auctions besides the learning aspect. To reward those who get good grades, help the community or do anything else worth rewarding. There is a digital campus as well and every now and then there are conclaves in which students gather and have like a camping type of thing for a couple of days. But before attending the Grey School, I would definitely first read the Grimoire, to know how a lot of the classes are written. Not everyone will enjoy learning in a school/college like environment.

I love being here, it's definitely worth it if one would like to learn more advanced things about magick.
