Review for Shakespeare & Company, Inc., Lenox, MA, USA
The training at Shakespeare & Co. is a wonderful, intense immersion in the words of Shakespeare and a deepening of one's own work no matter what level one is on. Personally, it was the best way to re-charge my focus and career as a professional actor. Seeing my teachers on stage the summer after my training during the First Folio workshop made me wish I lived closer to Massachusetts so I could see all the Shakespeare & Co. productions. I saw seven productions and one was more spectacular than the last. The comedies were hysterically funny and Hamlet was scary, moving...Great designs and terrific acting.
More Feedback
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
my ability to successfully audition and work on character development as a professional actress. My direction of the comedies has become more playful, my work in the classroom has deepened.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
so accomplished in their approach to acying and Shakespeare. Also real people, attentive and fun.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
rejuvenate the way Shakespeare is taught in the United States--make it more immediate and human. It could get students, even in middle school, excited about reading, language and playing out fully. It would increase their focus and commitment.
