Review for Shakespeare & Company, Inc., Lenox, MA, USA
I've attended performances since this company's debut at'The Mount'in Lenox, Ma. Each year I am astonished by the growth and imagination of the company's artistic vision. The care and detail that the company provides to create a memorable experience begins from the moment you enter the grounds (now at a splendid estate next to Tanglewood.) You may buy a ticket to see a certain play but you get the added experience of meeting actors, technical crew or students engaged in rehearsals, training sessions, or just lunch. A short chat with any member of this troupe reveals pride and excitement about the next event to be performed on that day - the play, an unexpected pre-show scene from an acting class or a free 'tent' show illuminating some aspect of Shakespeare's world in a most entertaining manner. Forget the circus - run away for a day or two in the Berkshires with Shakespeare and Company.
