Review for Provincetown Counter Productions, Provincetown, MA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have performed in or acted as an Assistant Director for five productions mounted by Counter Productions. I find that working with its blend of local and professional talent an exhilarating experience. The Artisitc Director's choice of material is always interesting and a refreshing change from what is often offered by community theaters and the encouragement the company gives to members of the community is exceptional. My experience with Counter Productions has been nothing short of wonderful . With its year-round programming I think it brings a gust of of fresh and invigorating theatrical excitement to Cape Cod- and the outer Cape in particular

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

as an actor, a back stage "helper" and as an audience member.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

In crease the size of the administrative staff staff by 1-2 people so that additional outreach and public relations ( that would attempt attempt to interest more people in theater and also raise audience numbers)

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The "can-do' attitude of everyone involved in productipns and the sense of being part of a team that is doing interesting and exciting work.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated, talented and enthusiastic and enthusiastic

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

1) Obtain/build its own performance space in the commercial area of Provincetown that would allow both greater visibility and outreach to the community from which it draws its audience and talent.

Ways to make it better...

The artistic director had more money to f=hire one or two people as permanent staff. As it sands now, she has to do too much of the "heavy lifting" to mount a production herself.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Primarily money that would in various ways help to The ability to widen its audience base.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Counter Productions offers an wonderful and often deeply felt experience both to those involved with its work and to its audience. It's "the little company that can" and deserves as much support as can be mustered

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2010

Role:  General Member of the Public & Acting in various productions, helping out as asn Assistant Director on another and "holding book" for rehearsals for another.
