I first met Joy around 2002 when I found a stray dog that had been hurt and i was trying to find a home for. She invited me to bring her to the mobile adoptions, as well as helped me to find her a home.

It was instantly clear that she was an avid animal advocate. I ended up keeping the dog, but before that choice became clear to me, I learned a great deal about rescue, screening, and placement of dogs. I ended up volunteering for a bit with Rescue Me, Inc. It was a great experience.

I've stayed in touch with the organization for all these years, even after moving, because I believe in Joy and Rescue Me and what they stand for. I hope they achieve their goal for their sanctuary because the animals need more people like them to fight for them.
