Review for CASA Council Helping Children of Mohave County, Kingman, AZ, USA
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Council Helps Provide Needed Extras To Foster Kids.
A six year old I advocated for was disrupting her school class and having a difficult time making friends. Her angry aggressive behaviors were brought on by severe emotional abuse. She loved basketball and it was a way to reach her. CASA Council Helping Children of Mohave County provided money for her enrollment in a basketball class at the local YMCA. She was caught up in an activity that required concentration, teamwork, and sharing. CASA Council gave her a chance to begin learning socially appropriate behaviors.
There are funds to feed, shelter, and clothe children once they enter foster care. There aren't funds to give them opportunities or provide them with activities. Being removed from family, even a highly dysfunctional one, is traumatic. Special experiences can give a child a break from a frightening and disorienting time. They can foster a sense of normalcy. They can create an opportunity to explore a talent or interest. They can set a child on a new path.
I am priviledged to volunteer as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) and advocate for abused and neglected children in court. I also donate to the excellent work of CASA Council Helping Children of Mohave County. I hope you'll join me.
