Review for The Pain Community (a DBA of Women With Pain Coalition), Alamo, CA, USA
As someone who has lived with chronic pain since 1996, this group has been invaluable to me. They have several learning tools that really do help. I've been able to take the lead in my medical care and put together a team I am happy with rather than letting doctors do what they want and have doctors who do not communicate with each other. I learned, with the help of TPC, to ask the more important questions of my doctors and let the little ones go until a later appointment. And in the chat room, I've made a lot of good friends that I really prefer to call family because they really are there for me whenever I need them, just like family would be. When my grandmother passed, they were there. When both of my in-laws passed, they were there. When the daughter of another member graduated, as many of us could got together to celebrate. And most recently, when I found out I had lung cancer and through my struggle to quit smoking, they have been there for me, so the people from the admins to just the users, go above and beyond to help one another. Everyone who joins is family!
