Review for Marin Shakespeare Company, San Rafael, CA, USA
I am an actor who worked with this company in the summer of 2009. I was delighted with its dedication to professionalism as well as to the educational function of live theatre. Many of our performances were for elementary school children, who seemed fascinated with a live performance of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. I was particularly fascinated that the students stayed after the performances to ask incisive, and often surprising, questions about the play and the production.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
meeting an inspiring group of established and aspiring theatre professionals, all dedicated to the idea of live theatre as a vibrant participant in the cultural and educational life of the community.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
its egalitarianism. Our group included theatre professionals from Los Angeles, New York, and Ashland, experienced and relatively inexperienced amateurs, college and even high school students. Yet, everyone was treated as a responsible contributor.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
invariably courteous and helpful and committed to the mission of the company.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Renovate its performance space and expand the schedule and geographic reach of its performances to reach a much wider audience.
