I am having an incredible experience at LICADD. While at first I was a bit overwhelmed by how much I had to learn, the clinicians have been so incredibly welcoming and helpful in guiding me through the process. In my previous internships I did not feel like I had the kind of supportive, educational environment we have here. My first week I was terrified to answer the phones but the clinicians gave me the confidence and the tools to feel comfortable helping the clients or admitting that I did not know all of the answers. I really appreciate that Steve meets with the interns weekly to discuss different therapy tools, current events, and harm reduction. I also think it is incredible that LICADD invites the interns help facilitate various community events and workshops. I am really excited about what is to come and I am grateful that I have this amazing opportunity learn so much about social work, individual therapy, group facilitation's, community outreach, referrals and advocacy.
