Review for Assistance League® of the Eastside, Redmond, WA, USA
The following is an anonymous email written by a survivor of sexual assault that received an Assistance League of the Eastside Assault Survivor Kit at one of the local Washington Hospitals:
To the Assault Survivor Kit Volunteers,
I wish I knew where to begin this thank you but my words seem completely inadequate to explain my gratitude. Never in my life did I think I would find myself in this situation but here I am, a woman in her twenties who has graduated college and out for just a couple drinks with friends ending up in Harborview for sexual assault. That night/morning was the most violating and breaking of my life. After everything I went through I was then asked to give over my clothing for evidence and I was once again left feeling stripped of a piece of myself. When the nurse said she had a full kit of clothing for me to put on I felt a little piece of my dignity return. To put on comfortable sweats that covered every part of me made me feel safe in a way I cannot explain. I want to be able to explain to you how much your time and effort mean to me and I know other women like me, but until you experience it I do not think you can understand how important what you do is. That simple aqua sweatshirt is now like a security blanket to me and instead of reminding me of the man who violated me, it reminds me of the souls who took the time to care about someone they will never meet. Thank you from the very depths of my heart and please know that you are making a change and difference even when you cannot see it.
