Review for Assistance League® of the Eastside, Redmond, WA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been associated with Assistance League of the Eastside (ALE) for over 20 years in the roles of member, board member, and donor. The members have learned how to grow and change with the times to consistantly provide compassionate service to the community in a fiscally responsible way. Their reorganization in response to COVID has been remarkable.

Assault Survivor Kits (ASK) is one of the programs that demonstrates the chapter's compassion. These kits contain a new set of sweats, under garments, and toiletries that allow survivors to relinquish their clothing as evidence after the long process of examination, treatment and evidence gathering. It also contains a note of encouragement from the members expressing hope that this is a first step to recovery.

ASK also demonstrates fiscal responsibility. Members source, package and deliver kits to hospitals across the state by relentlessly looking for the very best prices without sacrificing quality or comfort. Hospitals without kits have only disposable gowns or scrubs to offer.

Consider supporting ALE by becoming a member or donor or both!

I am a longtime donor of Assistance League of the Eastside. I have found them to be excellent stewards of the money they receive, consistently returning over 80% to provide program services. This year they altered the delivery of their services to protect both volunteers and recipients and are working hard to replace the fundraising event that was canceled in April. I highly recommend them.

I have been a member of Assistance League of the Eastside for over 15 years and have been proud to watch this entirely volunteer organization grow. I had been an active volunteer in my children's schools and in the local food bank, but when I joined the ranks of Assistance League I was thrilled to see my impact on my community broadened and magnified. Assistance League is a highly effective fundraising organization that distributes those funds directly, through its own programs in support of local women and children. The most gratifying part of membership is to meet a recipient and know that I was part of something that made a real difference in their life. I have the privilege of seeing children's faces light up when they have the opportunity to select brand new school clothes and shoes for the very first time. It is so much better than just writing a check to a charity and hoping the money is used wisely. I feel like I'm the one receiving a precious gift.
