In the end of August 2014, I took a group of friends to help me with The Soccer as a Tool for Development Program in Lebrun. It was my wife's and mine 2nd trip to Lebrun with Havserve, but the 1st for my friends. It had been 3 years since my first trip.
Starting at our arrival, we were so kindly embraced by the entire village. Adults and kids welcomed our arrival and were very helpful to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
The house where we stayed was very comfortable and safe. And the food was delicious.
The volunteer work is intense. Intense in a good way, because once you get to meet the kids and the people from Lebrun you want to help as much as possible. Lebrun people are strong and the women called my attention by how hard they work.
Carline Brice and all Havserve volunteers are doing a great job with the schools. Education has improved tremendously for the people in the village.
Soccer has also made a huge impact on the lives of the little ones and also on the coaches involved. Soccer teaches important necessary values, such as team work, self-stem, sportsmanship, and sense of achievement.
The work in Lebrun is a phenomenal experience. We go in to help, but we come back feeling helped. The experience always helps me grow and at this time, with my "team" of friends, the feeling was the same among them.
I strongly recommend. God bless the kids of Lebrun and the beautiful hard work that Carline Brice has been doing!!
