The Junior State of America is an organization that empowers students to voice their opinions and nurtures them to become leaders. One of the many reasons why I love JSA is because it provides everyone with the ability to freely express themselves without the fear of being judged or stigmatized by others for their beliefs. JSA teaches everyone to respect one another, despite their adverse beliefs, in a non-judgmental environment. This plays a vital role in empowering students to feel comfortable and encouraged to express their opinions. After a year's worth of experience, I am proud to genuinely say that JSA has impacted my life by transforming and defining my character through teaching me key leadership skills, debate techniques, and by placing me in an environment consisting of a diverse variety of individuals who are without a doubt, the brightest and most intellectual students I have ever encountered. This goes to show that JSA garners bold students by providing them with the opportunity to not only learn about themselves and others, but also about the political and social aspects of America. JSA has changed me as a whole, and I would strongly encourage everyone to become members of the Junior State and, of course, to "be the people".
