Review for Junior State of America, Oakland, CA, USA
I joined JSA during my sophomore year, when transferring to Venice High School. It was one of the best decisions I hae ever made. I've always been fascinated with politics and civic issues, but JSA opened my eyes to how I could take that passion to the next level. The organization pushed me to speak up during debates, which then helped me in class. It surrounded me will well informed young people who have taught me so much. JSA has also helped a dear friend of mine. She lives in the projects. School had never been great for her. Her life was rough. This organization has given her something to be passionate about, work hard for, and has created a path to college for this amazing young woman.
