Review for Bright Eyes Sanctuary Inc, Williamsport, MD, USA
I've been involved with BES since 2007. Our first bun was deemed "aggressive" but rescued from a "quick kill shelter" by Ms. Henningsen. The bun was anything but aggressive! He was the sweetest creature I had ever met and we are grateful every day that he was saved by such a loving person. Since then, we have adopted 3 more buns, with two of them passing in that time. Each time we lost a bun, I called on Bright Eyes for emotional support to help us deal with the loss and Ms. Henningsen was always there for us, and the lonely bun left behind. She also took the time to carefully bond each bunny with an appropriate mate, ensuring everyone's happiness. The buns we have adopted couldn't be happier. I have also had the pleasure of visiting Bright Eyes. I am highly allergic to hay (and yes, we still keep buns and a huge pile of hay around!) and I have never had any type of allergic reaction in the facility, which is a testament to how clean the environment is for the bunnies sheltered there. Having witnessed the operations first hand, I can only wish and pray that all other nonprofits function in a similar manner. Ms. Henningsen should be praised for her dedication to detail, ensuring each animal is given the best of care and that each adopter is given ample education to ensure the adoption is successful and the buns are treated with the same respect they receive under her care.
