Review for Rehorse Rescue Ranch, Jamestown, CA, USA
As a horse lover, I am always on the look out for a worthwhile equine rescue. While I give my money to many rescues, my time is much more valuable - therefore I am very picky about who deserves my time. To date, only one rescue has earned my physical presence, and that is ReHorse Rescue Ranch. This rescue is unlike many others.
1. This rescue is volunteer based, so every penny you donate goes to help the horses and the community programs ReHorse runs.
2. This is a no kill shelter. No animal is denied treatment - if the horse has the will to live and has a chance at a good quality of life (after the crisis is over), then that animal receives the treatment - regardless of age or ability to be ridden.
3. They have community outreach programs that provide (for lack of a better term)" equine assisted therapy" for foster children and veterans suffering from PTSD.
This rescue fills a void in the rescue pipeline. They don't have to go out looking for horses at auctions, they are busy taking the animals other rescues turn away. By doing this they show the general public that every life is precious and that older horses can have quality lives and perform jobs, even though they can no longer be ridden.
So these are the reasons ReHorse has earned my money, and more importantly, my time. Don't take my word for it, go visit. 5 minutes spent talking to the director and volunteers is all it will take.
Review for All About Equine Animal Rescue, Inc., El Dorado Hills, CA, USA
Although I have donated to quite a few horse rescues on a regular basis AAE is the only one i do not hesitate to donate to when they ask. This organizations utilization of funds, transparency, and ethical standards are beyond reproach. They should be the model for every equine rescue organization.
