Review for International Topical Steroid Awareness Network (ITSAN), Dacula, GA, USA
I don't even know where to begin. ITSAN was an absolute life saver for my daughter who was only 3 1/2 years old at the time we came across Kelly Palace's story. We were desperate for help and at a loss in how to help our daughter after having seen umpteen doctors only to be told that we were dealing with 'out of control eczema' -- offered more topical steroids, sent on our way feeling more depressed and hopeless. After coming across ITSAN, we learned that our daughter was suffering from steroid induced eczema, spreading skin rashes made worse by the steroid creams we were applying to her skin on a daily basis (erroneously reassured by doctors it was safe to do and necessary to control the eczema) All the doctors we saw prior to ITSAN were wrong!
ITSAN was a beacon of light for our family, gave us hope that the nightmare would end. They educated us on topical steroid addiction and withdrawal. They were there to support us through the entire withdrawal process and helped us emerge from the darkness we were living in. They gave us hope! Similar to others, prior to learning about TSA, we were desperate and paranoid about everything my daughter ate, touched, came in contact with-- not knowing what was the trigger for her skin -- what was making her skin worse.
ITSAN had the answer and changed our life, my daughter's forever. We are forever grateful to the organization that gave my daughter a second chance at living life. Our daughter has now been steroid free for almost 3 years and is finishing up her Kindergarten year like every other normal 6 year old, no longer a prisoner in her own skin!
ITSAN provides support, education, and resources to individuals and families suffering from steroid induced eczema. They help to raise awareness about this painful condition. The support forum was a Godsend and the only reason we made it through the withdrawal process somewhat sane. For the first time, we were not alone. There were others going through the same thing and provided helpful tips, personal experiences, before and after pictures, and encouragement. I don't know where we would be today without ITSAN. We are eternally thankful and grateful for everything this organization did for us: http://scratchymonster.blogspot.com/
