My Nonprofit Reviews

Review for Bienvenidos Outreach Inc., Santa Fe, NM, USA
I have been a volunteer for about 13 months and a board member for about 4 or 5 months. Besides an excellent director and assistant, all of us (30-40 I think) are volunteers. It is a very caring place but we all work very hard to serve our many clients. Our main challenge is lack of space (and funds) to serve the many hundreds of families and homeless we help.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
being a part of helping many hundreds (and growing!) of families and homeless with clear and many times critical needs for food and clothing.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
This organizaton is so well run that I don't think there would be much. Maybe better signage and someway to get accross to our family clients we need two simple things from them - bring their calendar (schedule) and box every time.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the joy of helping those in need and espcially the friendship of all the volunteers and staff.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Many...retired people like myself but from different walks of life, young people (teens), clients who are also volunteers and truly dedicated staff.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Wow, we could do soooo much good! We could serve many more clients better, faster and more often.
Ways to make it better...
there was better heat in the winter and A/C in the summer.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
We are sort of a "victim of our own success (by the Grace of the Lord)". We have too many clients for the size of facility and badly need newer equipment - frigs, freezers and commerical kitchen ( to do a better job helping the homeless).
One thing I'd also say is that...
I am a 64 year old retiree, and this is the best thing I have done with my life. I hope I am able to continue my two days a week here for the next 30 (OK, maybe 20) years.
How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
About every week
