Worked here as a volunteer since about 2005. The service to those in need is provided on a very slim budget with the help of volunteers who daily collect surplus foods from local stories and bakeries. Large family boxes have can food food, fresh fruits and vegetables, breads and sweets. This year 350 visit twice each month for these boxes. About 150 homless drop by each week for bag lunches of sandwhiches, fruit, chips and a sweet.
I have been a volunteer for about 13 months and a board member for about 4 or 5 months. Besides an excellent director and assistant, all of us (30-40 I think) are volunteers. It is a very caring place but we all work very hard to serve our many clients. Our main challenge is lack of space (and funds) to serve the many hundreds of families and homeless we help.
