Review for Homeless Animal Lifeline, Manalapan, NJ, USA
I became acquainted with HAL through their facebook page and their founding member, Michelle. For the past year or so, through pictures and stories, I have watched the tireless efforts of Michelle and her team and rooted for their success. During and after Hurricane Sandy, even though she had just gotten married and should have been on her honeymoon, Michelle exhaustively worked to bring supplies to Hurricane victims, both human and non-human, even using her own credit card when donations were short. I didn't see this amount of effort from anyone else... not even local and state government agencies who should have been at the helm of relief efforts. Another reason that I have nothing but admiration for HAL is that they are working for the underdog/cat. The sick, those who are deemed to be 'unsightly' (even though if you ask me, no one is 'unsightly') and the elderly. Not that they don't take in healthy and young animals as well. Everyone gets a fair chance and the respect that they deserve. Something that most of them never knew, their entire lives, up until HAL took them on. There is no discrimination with this organization. They have a great network of support, as well... from transports to fosters. Truly top-notch!
