Review for All About Equine Animal Rescue, Inc., El Dorado Hills, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been volunteering at AAE for 11 years. This is a wonderful place to volunteer. The director who truly cares for all the animals that come in - some of which would have been put down at other facilities - are given a fighting chance at AAE. You cry at the sight of some of them at intake but after the awesome care they get - from the volunteers to the vets and farriers - you celebrate their transformation. Everyone really cares and it shows. This is a place of love and caring.

It's been 8 years since i started volunteering here at AAE. The love that the animals get from all the volunteers and their hard work helps make this a truly amazing rescue. Over the years their have been some very hard cases come thru the gates, but the transformation is so amazing. While at AAE the animals get the love, all the care they need. The founder Wendy is like a horse whisperer. She can gain their trust when it seems like no one else can - its great to watch her with them. From the babies to the seniors, from the weak to the strong - each one has their own unique personalities and love to let you know. This place is good for the soul - animal and human alike. This is a fantastic place to volunteer. i've had many favorites over the years, and it makes you happy when they find their forever home. The people are fantastic, friendly - helpful. You can't help but fall in love with being there and helping. Nothing like the smell of horses in the morning!

I have been volunteering at AAE for 7 years now. It is truly a wonderful, caring place that transforms the lives of the animals that take in. The people are loving and caring and the you can really see in the eyes of the horses that they feel safe. Over the years I've had a few favorites - as does everyone! Its wonderful to see them get healthy and then find their forever homes. If you are having a bad day or week, come out and volunteer - the feeding, mucking and the smells (yes they smells) will rejuvenate you on a whole other level.

AAE takes in animals that are in need of help. We've had some pretty sad cases come in over the last 6 -9 months. You often wonder if they will survive. But thanks to the care they receive at AAE, ALL are thriving. The animals are happy and they know no one there is going to hurt them. Its so amazing to see the transformation these animals make from the time they arrive to now. Just when you think they can't get any more beautiful, they do. Thank you to Wendy and all the volunteers for making AAE so wonderful. This is an awesome organization. Not only saving the animals and making a difference in their lives, but the programs offered at AAE help educate people of all ages about the horses and their care. I would highly recommend this organization to anyone looking for a great place to volunteer.

I started volunteering at AAE after I lost my job in 2012. I wanted to do something meaningful and helpful with my time. My hairdresser actually told me about AAE. When I first went there and saw how frightened the animals were, it broke my heart. They shied away from you, ran the other way. But after much love and patience, its awesome to see them come around. To learn to trust humans again. To see them run and play in the pasture - is so amazing. After the morning feed, we just stand in awe of them. Those same horses now come up to you and touch you, to follow you. Its incredible. AAE really is making a difference in the lives of the animals they rescue. All the animals, from the goats & sheep to the horses and minis are loved and they love being loved. And the people are pretty great too.
