Review for Abode, Fremont, CA, USA
Abode Services is working to end homelessness for families and individuals by developing and leasing homes. Their utilization of the housing first model has proven so successful that they are now approached by local jurisdictions to get involved in their communities. They have a well deserved reputation of providing high quality services and achieving outstanding outcomes that are changing people's lives. I am proud to be associated with them.
Review for Abode, Fremont, CA, USA
i have been a Board member at Abode Services for 13 years. I hjave seen the organization grow over those years, moving from just having an emergency shelter for homeless individuals and families to a multi-dimensional service provider that develops permanent housing for poor people accompanied with supportive services to keep them in their homes. It has received Charity Navigator's top 4 star rating for 6 years in a row. It is seen as the leading organization in the field of supportive housing. It has a growing loyal donor base of local people who believe in its mission to end homelessness. It has a professional staff that is frequently requested to consult with other like agenies nation-wide. It achieves meaningful results for people -- stable housing and connection with resources to assist in maintaining self sufficiency.

Review for Community Working Group, Inc., Palo Alto, CA, USA
I have been associated with the Community Working Group for over 12 years. I have witnessed the commitment of the volunteer Board of Directors to achieve amazing results. They raised funds to buiild the Opportunity Center, a development that has 88 apartments for formerly homeless individuals and families and those at risck of becoming homeless. The building also has a drop-in center for those who are still unhoused, offering food, showers, lockers, email accounts, case management, employment assistance, medical services, laundry, computer access, and assistance in securing public assistance. It is a unique model of housing and services that has been visited by people from all over the country. CWG also purchased a small 10 unit apartment complex that is available to tenants with very low incomes. Their latest project is the construction of a 50 unit apartment building for working families with very low incomes. It will be built in Palo Alto in the next two years. CWG's Board is responsive to community needs and continues to search for opportunities to collaborate with other organizations in meeting the housing needs of the poorest members of their community.

Review for Abode, Fremont, CA, USA
I have been connected to Abode Services since it began operations about 20 years ago, as a advocate speaking at City Council meetings in favor of building an emergency shelter for homeless individuals and families, as a donor, as a volunteer, and for the past 13 years as a Board member. From my experience and first-hand observations as a consultant for nonprofit organizations, I believe Abode Services is the most effective and efficient nonprofit organization in the San Francisco Bay area. It is innovative in finding solutions for homelessness, responsive in providing permanent housing for those most in need, willing to partner with other organizations, respected by donors, funders, and the people it serves, and a model for other organizations. I am proud to be associated with this exemplary agency.
