My first recollection of environmental issues occurred when I was seven years old. I saw a mountain river in Western North Carolina covered in yellow foam and my dad explained that it was effluent from a huge paper mill. I am now 80 and several years ago I read that the problem still exists.

From an early age I was taught that we don't own the earth; we are stewards. I passed this belief on to my children and they are actively engaged in saving the planet, one who is making an impact on the grape-growing industry in Australia.

No everyone is lucky enough to have my upbringing and for them EDF is a great teacher. Each of us needs to live in the environmental mode in order to save Mother Earth.
