Review for Rileys Army Inc, Winterville, NC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I love Riley's Army. Being a part of this organization is a true blessing. Through Riley's Army I have met the most incredible people. These young warriors are so brave and strong and have such compassion for others. They have taught me how to live and what's important in life. This Army of volunteers is like no other. They are fearless and work tirelessly for our sweet families. Thank you Riley's Army.

Since getting involved in this organization about two years ago, my life has changed drastically. Riley's Army supports children with cancer and their families. Like many organizations we provide meals, gas cards and other financial assistance but it is our personal connection with these children that sets us apart. We go into the hospital and visit regularly. We are often the only non medical person that child sees. We sit with the patient so the parents can run errands, take a break, take a shower, consult with a physician or spend time with their other children. We laugh together and yes, we cry together.

Being a part of this organization has taught me so much. I no longer sweat the small stuff nor do I seek satisfaction from owning material things. I understand just how precious every moment is, especially where our children are concerned. Being a Riley's Army volunteer is, aside from motherhood, the most rewarding thing I have ever done. I am so thankful and blessed to be a part of this wonderful organization. It was Riley Philpot's dream that no child would ever have to be left alone in a hospital while battling cancer and her parents Kirk and Kelly are making sure her wish is fulfilled. Riley lost her battle with cancer but she left a legacy that anyone would be proud to claim. She was wise beyond her years and serves as the motivation for Riley's Army.

This is one nonprofit that truly works so hard for a wonderful cause. With no overhead and only one part-time employee, you can rest assured that the majority of all money raised goes directly to these families. This truly is a remarkable organization and one that I am proud to be a part of.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Make it more well known and wide spread in hopes that we could eventually have support in every children's hospital in America.
