From day one the folks at Riley's Army have been there for my daughter. From meals in the hospital (who likes hospital food yuck lol) to annual events. The wonderful people there are in constant touch and are always available when you call. True angels and life savers

Riley's Army was a constant support group for our family while my son was going through his battle with cancer. They are "forever friends", who continue to nurture a relationship with my son and our family by remaining a source of inspiration, love, and care.

I have learned of this charity through local community events when it was first started. Over the past several years I have been volunteering when I can to help support this fantastic organization. The love and support they give to the families in need is tremendous and their volunteers have always been so selfless. It's a pleasure being associated with this amazing group. I hope my family never personally needs their assistance, but I am thankful to know they would be there if we did.

I have been a part of this organization from the very beginning and am amazed at what it has become. From a vision by Riley during her battle with pediatric cancer to helping family after family with their fight, it has been an inspiration. Kimber Stone as the director is untiring in her enthusiasm and has done so very much to help this Army grow and get stronger all the time. Another plus is that Riley's family has stayed involved in a big way even though she lost her battle. Raising money, supporting those hospitalized, raising awareness, serving meals at the hospital for Thanksgiving and Christmas, hosting a 5k and fun run and a golf tournament to bring out supporters and gain visibility for the organization, having a dinner for survivors and those still fighting--the list goes on and on! I am proud to be a small cog in this giant wheel.

Thank you for the kind words. However, this Army is successful and able to support over 250 children with cancer all because of You! Our volunteers and the community. We are blessed to have so many who feel and hear God's calling to help serve these children on a journey they did not choose to be on.

We have been a part of Riley’s Army for 5 years now. My son was diagnosed with kidney cancer at the age of 2. I remember it like it was yesterday. Mama Jean came in to share with me what Riley’s Army was. I didn’t think that anyone could possibly understand what we were going through as a family let alone as parents. On the day of my Noah’s surgery the Philpots came and talked/comforted us as we waited. They shared their journey as parents. Their ups and downs and many wonderful memories of their sweet Riley. They explained that it took an army to help with their journey and boy were they right. Our stays in the hospital were not terrible thanks to Riley’s army. They fed us, played with my precious son, gave us gas cards for the back and forth, watched him long enough for us to take showers and a minute to ourselves. We have met many warriors through our journey and proud that our little Noah has been cancer free for 5 years this September. Riley’s army goes above and beyond to help families in their time of need and do a great job!!!

Riley’s Army was created with the soul purpose of being a help to children and families in the hospital in eastern NC. It helps with financial support and most of all emotional support at a time when they are most fragile. The Philpots created it from knowing what it is like to be in that situation and from watching others on a first hand basis. I have watched Riley’s Army grow from a few dedicated supporters to the many, many volunteers that truly make this group what it is, an Army of Faith and Love.

2017 my son was diagnosed with Stage IV brain cancer at age of 17. Riley’s army helped my family with meals, gas cards to and from appts, activities, tickets to games, banquets and many other things they’ve been there for us. Kimber is a great person and gives it her all to help in anyway possible. Several times we wonder how but Riley’s Army helped make it happen. Never enough words to express what Riley’s Army has meant to our family. They definitely helped make things better for us. I myself (Mom), dad and patient Eric Thank God for such people. Picture is my son Eric & his friend at the 2017 Survivor banquet that Riley’s Army has yearly. Blessed... Thanks again Riley Army foundation.

I have been so inspired by the work of Riley's Army in my community. Their work for families with children dealing with cancer treatment is amazing. I am sure it is making a very real difference in the lives of those families. I am also sure that volunteers from all facets of our community know that they are able to get involved and make a difference as well. I am constantly seeing how people are getting involved and volunteering and I've known many college student who have been touched by volunteering as well. Awesome organization.

The out poor of moral, spiritual, physical, financial support , whether it's big or small; Rileys Army is there. Since getting involved in this organization about two years ago, my life has changed drastically. Riley's Army supports children with cancer and their families. Like many organizations we provide meals, gas cards and other financial assistance but it is our personal connection with these children that sets us apart. We go into the hospital and visit regularly. We are often the only non medical person that child sees. We sit with the patient so the parents can run errands, take a break, take a shower, consult with a physician or spend time with their other children. We laugh together and yes, we cry together.

Being a part of this organization has taught me so much. I no longer sweat the small stuff nor do I seek satisfaction from owning material things. I understand just how precious every moment is, especially where our children are concerned. Being a Riley's Army volunteer is, aside from motherhood, the most rewarding thing I have ever done. I am so thankful and blessed to be a part of this wonderful organization. It was Riley Philpot's dream that no child would ever have to be left alone in a hospital while battling cancer and her parents Kirk and Kelly are making sure her wish is fulfilled. Riley lost her battle with cancer but she left a legacy that anyone would be proud to claim. She was wise beyond her years and serves as the motivation for Riley's Army.

This is one nonprofit that truly works so hard for a wonderful cause. With no overhead and only one part-time employee, you can rest assured that the majority of all money raised goes directly to these families. This truly is a remarkable organization and one that I am proud to be a part of.

They were there for whatever I needed, whether it be to talk, need information, help with gas for food and many other things. I have had to utilize help in the form of gas for my daughter driving back and forth everyday for radiation. We will be forever grateful for the love & support we have received from Riley's Army!! Riley's Army came to our aid, while my son was admitted for cancers treatments December 2016- April 2017. Countless days spent in the hospital meant funds were very tight. They provided us dinner many times, which was usually the only meal, I or my son, ate that day. They are truly a blessing. Their warmth and smiles were always looked forward to on our darkest times. The picture of my son, is with a chair they gave to him, that was donated from a kind soul. He cherishes that gift to this day.

It takes a village...
For years I have witnessed the incredible community that is RA. Day in and day out RA provides for children and their families. Highly-organized, well-orchestrated and supported by individuals and businesses alike, the services and love RA provides are invaluable -- each family becomes part of the extended RA family and community. One appeal to the greater NC community included flying a sibling from Hawaii to North Carolina to share a final day together. I appreciate the challenges faced and and highly recommend supporting RA - RA is changing lives of those facing untenable circumstances.
God bless RA, its angels, and their families.

I don't know how I would have made it through my son's illness without the help of Riley's Army. They are truly a Godsend. They made sure I was never without dinner, gas, or a shoulder to cry on. They delivered dinner when I couldn't leave my son's side, and when I could leave for a few minutes, they came to sit by his side while I went to the cafeteria to get something to eat. They gave our family gas cards to get to and from the hospital, which was tough considering I gave up my career and we lived an hour from the hospital. A special lady came by every, single day to give me someone to talk/vent/cry to and to play with my son; she even played his favorite game, Candy Land, with him numerous times to make him smile. All of this was during his hospital stay! Now that we are home, we still continue to get support from Riley's Army. They host numerous events to make the children feel as healthy and "normal" (for lack of a better term) as possible. My favorite event is the "Free to be Me" event where several pilots from the area take the kids on airplane/helicopter rides. As I stated before, Riley's Army is truly a Godsend!

I am a nurse at Vidant and work in The Childrens Hospital. Riley's army is a huge supporter of our children here. They are there for our patients at diagnosis and through out their journey. They have care packages for the patients at diagnosis. They bring meals to the hospital regularly for the patient/families admitted. If there are special needs for these families they help get the needs met by involving the community. One example I can think of was, a newly diagnosed family didn't have bed to sleep in. They found beds, mattresses and bedding for this family. One less thing the family had to worry about. Riley's Army is a huge asset to our community and The James and Connie Maynard Childrens Hospital!!!!!!

NC Eastern area is BLESSED to have the men and women who serve in Rileys Army organization. Riley was a precious angel both on and off the earth, but this little girl, in heaven, touched the heart of my husband who had entered a Home Hospice program. John became emotional as he witnessed the ministry, without any salaried individuals. He had me running around town to collect camp items! He felt so strongly about their work to children and families at VMC, he wanted donations at his death to go to them. His comment brought tears to my eyes, "These kids didn't ask for cancer"! That seems to sum it up! Families need support and certainly, the children are the bravest of the brave to take on a battle they didn't ask for! In addition, they gave prompt follow up for all donations and at his one year anniversary, I received a note of care. This organization deserves the highest rating possible! The BEST supporting the weakest!

Riley's Army is by far my most favorite organization I have ever worked with. They support many families affected by pediatric cancer in Eastern North Carolina, and go above and beyond for every family, volunteer, doctor, and person they work with. I have not found many other organizations that are able to treat these children just like they are family. As a hospital volunteer, I get the honor of delivering meals that Riley's Army has worked hard with local restaurants to donate, and when I do that I get to spend even just a few hours a week learning more and more about these children. Riley's Army not only embodies what a family should be, but also their motto "you can't do it alone... you need an army."

When it first started, we were planing just a couple events each year . . . and now the number of events/activities that RA sponsors for these families is so incredibly beautiful to see. Sadly, the numbers of participating families continues to grow, but what an amazing comfort Riley's Army is to these families . . . spiritual/educational/physical support, meals, gas, running errands, sitting with the children in the hospital, providing opportunities for these families to see they are not alone . . . I am honored to volunteer for this outstanding organization!

My newborn daughter was diagnosed at four weeks old with neuroblastoma. Hearing the words your child has cancer is beyond any nightmare imaginable. Riley's Army serves families fighting chikdhood cancer 24/7, 365 days a year. Every family has different needs and no matter the need, Riley's Army makes it happen. Selfless volunteers flood the hospital daily with either delivering gifts or food or to babysit the child so parents can take a break. The bond shared with these giving people is a bond that can never be broken. Riley's Army goes above and beyond their call of duty and we are blessed to have met such incredible people.

I have been a volunteer for Riley's Army for over a year now. I have been very impressed with
the way they have families of children with cancer. I hope to be able to continue to be a part of this great group!

Amazing organization! They were an invaluable asset to my friends when their 4-week-old daughter was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. Riley's Army was a huge blessing and source of support, encoragement, and comfort during the darkest time of their lives.

Riley's Army is a unique organization designed to help support pediatric cancer patients and their families in Eastern NC. It is an amazing organization that uses volunteers to show love and support to the children and families in need. We are blessed to have such giving people in our community who are willing to help out!!! We may not be able to take away pediatric cancer but we can love those who have to battle it!

I've never met so many caring individuals. After my My daughter was diagnosed, Rilley's Army was there to help us. From bring food many nights while we were in the children's hospital to doing events with the oncology patients. They have kept in touch with us even after her chemo was finished. We made such wonderful friends.

Riley's Army does something that I've seen no other organization do-put heart, love and compassion behind the children and their families who battle pediatric cancer. I've been so blessed to volunteer with them in and outside the hospital and help in some of their various unique services like the annual Pediatric survivor's dinner, and the in hospital meal delivery program where we've partnered with local restaurants to deliver dinner 4 nights a week to the families in the hospital. We celebrate, grieve, and go along side the families in all that they go through. The bonds I've formed with the patients, their families, and volunteers will last me through the rest of my life along with Riley's Army's passion for raising pediatric cancer awareness.

My son was diagnosed with cancer on July 31, 2014. Riley's Army has been there to help our family from our first trip in the hospital. We were shocked and overwhelmed about the diagnosis to say the least. They have helped with visits, support, meals, activities, etc. The organization and the volunteers have been wonderful. They have helped make a terrible situation better. They help so many families here. They truly care about the families. It is a blessing to have them and we greatly appreciate all they do.

Riley's Army is one of those organizations that you just know everyone cares and wants to help as much as they possibly can. I love this group and help out whenever I am needed. The smiles the children have on their face when you enter a room with food made especially for them is priceless! Great, great organization!

Riley's Army is an exceptional organization that helps little superheroes in the fight of their lives. These children are battling cancer and Riley's Army works to help make this battle easier for both the children and their families. They provide gas cards for families who live further away from the hospital. They provide meals for the children and families in the hospital Monday through Thursday evenings. They provide a fund for families to draw from if they run into money troubles because of medical bills or travel expenses or other things. Riley's Army provides events for the families and children to come together and bond with each other and form a support system to help them through the tough times ahead.

Riley's Army is the most directly involved organization I've ever volunteered with! Delivering meals to children in the hospital and their families is always a highlight of my day! I look forward to every volunteer opportunity because I've been able to develop relationships with families and other volunteers. I love being able to share Riley's story and tell people how much of an impact anyone can make, no matter their age. It is so wonderful to know there is an organization that really means it when they ask families what they need, and has a volunteer base with the ability to meet so many of those needs.

Our story began April 6th 2013. Riley's Army was there and welcomed us with open arms. They were a real person to talk to and some know the medical side and can help explain some of the gaps that happen when your little one is diagnosed with cancer. A member would come in and visit and also stay and play or cuddle your child while you step out for a meal or a shower or just time to think and breathe. They have fun events almost every month that pulls all the families together and your able to meet people going through some of the same steps. These volunteers have the biggest hearts I think I will ever know! Love them like family!
