Review for Southern Oregon Film Society, Ashland, OR, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The Ashland Independent Film Festival has such a welcoming atmosphere, inviting newcomers into the theater to see Indie Films along with well-seasoned fans and filmmakers. In the gorgeous town of Ashland, everyone comes together over the few days of the AIFF to share many moving movie moments - in every genre of film. At AIFF, new filmmakers are respected in a very holistic way - the festival itself is an amazingly creative endeavor! The AIFF event relies heavily upon grassroots volunteers, whose involvement is equally treasured and honored. I have run into filmmakers while on the street in Ashland, learned about their next film, and started following their creative work. This non-profit organization is incredible.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Help them find funding to help get more of the filmmakers here for the festival week. Wish there were more screens in Ashland to expand the festival!

Review for Ashland Schools Foundation, Ashland, OR, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The Ashland Schools Foundation (ASF) does incredible work to improve public education in our little town! By fundraising to help keep class sizes low, and by funding Impact Grants that keep arts and science and other classroom-based projects relevant. Just last weekend the ASF hosted a community-wide costumed fun run in our town's Lithia Park (called the Monster Dash!) and had nearly a thousand costumed runners participating! Every runner under age-18 gets a medal, no matter how fast they run (or walk!), and the community-spirited event earns money that goes directly back into the schools. I love the ASF, even though my own children are now in college, and will always be motivated to help with their mission - because it's fun!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Get the word out to more people about the great work done by the Ashland Schools Foundation!
