The Ashland Schools Foundation (ASF) does incredible work to improve public education in our little town! By fundraising to help keep class sizes low, and by funding Impact Grants that keep arts and science and other classroom-based projects relevant. Just last weekend the ASF hosted a community-wide costumed fun run in our town's Lithia Park (called the Monster Dash!) and had nearly a thousand costumed runners participating! Every runner under age-18 gets a medal, no matter how fast they run (or walk!), and the community-spirited event earns money that goes directly back into the schools. I love the ASF, even though my own children are now in college, and will always be motivated to help with their mission - because it's fun!

Programs: Education support grants 170,000 the education support grants fund educational staffing in the schools and make up the bulk of the annual grants the ashland schools foundation asf awards to the ashland school district. Each year the asf board of directors decides the amount and restrictions of the grants to the school district using input from the superintendent of schools regarding the needs in the schools, and taking into account the amount of funds available and the concerns of the asf donors.
impact grants 16,000 these classroom-based grants are for innovative, hands-on projects. The budget for the grants is set by the asf board annually. Twice each year teachers are encouraged to apply for grants, using a set of criteria created by the asf grants committee to guide them. The grants are reviewed by the grants committee, who makes funding recommendations to the asf board of directors. The board votes on these recommendations at a regular board meeting.
