Review for Serenity Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation, Maple Valley, WA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been volunteering at Serenity Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation (SERR) for about 3 years. I have learned much about not only the care of horses but how much horses can help the people around them. Cleaning the barn stalls, the paddocks and loafing sheds are done daily. Not only is there work with the horses to do, but general maintenance on the farm must be accomplished; never a dull moment. Occasionally, Patricia puts on classes that teach proper care and the safe way to handle horses.

The volunteers that work at SERR have big hearts and love being around animals. If you are looking for a place to spend your time or money SERR would be good place to start.

My husband and I have been volunteering at Serenity Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation, SERR, for almost two years. We have been able to keep active and engaged in our retirement by working side by side with equally committed volunteers doing the mundane, picking poo in the paddocks to the more interesting: fixing fences; hanging lights; and installing a new solenoid valve for the pump. This work keeps us young!
And the horses, oh, the horses. To witness the the recovery of a horse that has come in frightened and malnourished is amazing. There really is nothing like sharing in his journey from poor health to recovery to adoption. SERR will provide you with all the training needed to do the many chores needing to get done. Come join the family, get to know the horses and make a difference in their lives and yours.

Serenity is a great place to volunteer. Volunteer opportunities run the gamut from feeding to grooming to picking up after the horses. There is always someone there to explain why things are done a certain way and to teach you something you didn't already know about horses. There is also a series of "horsemanship" classes offered if you are interested in learning even more about these incredible animals. It is amazing to watch the horses, each with there own personality, interact with each other and with each volunteer. I support Serenity and will continue to do so.
