Review for Pittsburgh Concert Chorale, Pittsburgh, PA, USA
I have been a member of the Pittsburgh Concert Chorale (PCC) for over 14 years - 14 of the most satisfying years of my life because, like my children, I love to sing. The PCC performs three basic programs per year, a holiday concert in December, a grand classics concert in March, and a "pops" concert in May. In addition we do other, special, programs at times, working with other chorales and orchestras throughout the Pittsburgh area. Although I am not a fan of some of the music we do, I love to sing even THOSE songs, and have a lot of fun doing it. When I started, I was barely able to read music. Now I feel almost proficient enough to sing the big things without having to highlight every note. The PCC has been responsible for many milestones in my life, such as my first trip abroad (we did a concert tour of England and Wales in 1999) and my lovelife (I met my girlfriend on that tour). The organization has been very good to, and for, me and I hope to continue my association with it for years to come.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Do more recent music for the "pops" concerts, i.e., choral versions of the songs my generation listened to. 14 years of the music my PARENTS enjoyed to is too much.

Review for SLB Radio Productions, Inc., Pittsburgh, PA, USA
I have been a faithful listener of SLB Radio's The Saturday Light Brigade since its inception. I don't call in very often (my cal-in name is "John in Lincoln Place"), usually only when one of the games has most of the listeners stumped and I think I know what the answer is. But I really enjoy just listening to the music, interviews, stories, and general chit-chat with other listeners. When SLB Radio moved from one radio station to another a few years back, I was afraid the quality of the programming would deteriorate. Thanks to the new station, however, the programming expanded from 2 hours to 6, allowing for more, and better, of everything. In an age when politically-oriented and hate-filled diatribes dominate the airwaves, it is important to have family-oriented shows such as The Saturday Light Brigade on the air and internet to bring a few calm, relaxing, fun-filled, and - yes, loving! - hours to the hectic week. This show is definitely worth keeping. Please donate to make sure it stays on the air.
