'Raising Voices, Raising Spirits' is the goal of the Pittsburgh Concert Chorale, and it has done that for me for nearly 10 years. I hope that my voice, together with over 100 others, will raise your spirit as well. Come listen.
Review from The Pittsburgh Foundation
I have been a member of the Pittsburgh Concert Chorale (PCC) for over 14 years - 14 of the most satisfying years of my life because, like my children, I love to sing. The PCC performs three basic programs per year, a holiday concert in December, a grand classics concert in March, and a "pops" concert in May. In addition we do other, special, programs at times, working with other chorales and orchestras throughout the Pittsburgh area. Although I am not a fan of some of the music we do, I love to sing even THOSE songs, and have a lot of fun doing it. When I started, I was barely able to read music. Now I feel almost proficient enough to sing the big things without having to highlight every note. The PCC has been responsible for many milestones in my life, such as my first trip abroad (we did a concert tour of England and Wales in 1999) and my lovelife (I met my girlfriend on that tour). The organization has been very good to, and for, me and I hope to continue my association with it for years to come.
The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale presents seven performances of three excellent concert programs annually. It also sponsors "Pittsburgh Sings! The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale Festival of Choirs," an annual event at which three invited volunteer choirs (two of which are from area high schools), join the PCC for a joint concert. Having sung in other volunteer chorales, I know that the PCC is an order of magnitude better, performing at a level usually found only in professional choruses. The Chorale consists entirely of volunteer singers who share a love of singing and presenting the best choral experiences for audiences and singers. The Chorale has a sound financial base because of careful management of expenses and income from ticket sales, grants, and individual donations.
