Review for C&S Patient Education Foundation, Wexford, PA, USA
I had the symptoms all my life, but wasn't diagnosed until I was 52 years old. I had never heard the word Chiari in my life, until the doctor informed me and mispronounced it. I learned that not many doctors are educated or qualified to treat me, or other Chiarians, and they still are not teaching it in many medical schools. I fought for disability for 6 years, and by the time I finally had decompression surgery in 2018, I was literally on death's door. While surgery saved my life, and made some great improvements, I am not cured. I still struggle with several Chiari symptoms and those of the related disorders. I am so eternally grateful to Conquer Chiari for helping me cope, get educated, navigate this journey, and advocate for myself. I am dedicated to spreading awareness of Chiari Malformation! Conquer Chiari truly is a GREAT NONPROFIT!
Review for Ehrick Garions Act, Jamaica Plain, MA, USA
This organization is much needed for Chiari Malformation patients such as myself. Many of us are misdiagnosed, undiagnosed, blown off by physicians who are not educated in Chiari and its related disorders. Many of us are considered crazy, hypocondriacs or pill seekers and are not believed. This has happened to me for a half a century and I have been unable to get the surgical treatment I so desperately need. There is no cure currently. The only treatment is brain surgery. It damages nerves, and many Chiarians are dying from this terrible and debilitating condition. The EGA is trying to push for education in the medical community, and to lawmakers and government agencies to become aware, advocating for people who suffer from Chiari Malformation and their families.
Review for The Mosby Foundation, Staunton, VA, USA
I found a young little female Beagle on facebook that wound up 'urgent' on death row in an animal control pound. Her picture looked so sad, scared, and pathetic. She was very timid and obviously suffered abuse. I wanted so badly to save her and give her a home, but she needed spayed and surgery for cherry eye that I was unable to afford. I learned of The Mosby Foundation through a friend and called them. These wonderful people were so caring and helpful. They paid for her surgeries, and additionally helped with neuter costs for my other little boy beagle. I owe a great gratitude to them for helping me to save my little girl's life. She is now recovered, happy and healthy, and very deeply loved in her new forever home. I am eternally grateful to The Mosby Foundation for their help!
