Review for Scooby North America, Leesburg, VA, USA
My heart was set on adopting a Galgo, a breed of hound dog bred in Spain and used to hunt. Learning of the horrible conditions these hounds are born into, live through, and die from laid a very heavy burden on my heart to do something. And adopting one of these beautiful dogs was something, a very big something for me!
I was told about Scooby North America and sought their guidance through the entire adventure, and I have the most wonderful little Galga, Hermosa, living with me and my husband and our 2 other hounds, retired racing Greyhounds Phoenix and Apple. Eve and Diane did so much for me and I am thankful to them for giving me the support to make the trip perfect and with out incident. There was traveling involved from the airport to the shelter and back, crate issues to transport my girl in, a health issue of my chosen Galgo that I needed to learn more about, and just knowing what to expect and the customs of the Spanish community where I was staying during my visit. Eva and Diane from Scooby North America took time and had patience with me and made sure I understood all that I was about to begin before I ever left for Spain.
I am forever grateful to Scooby North America for the assistance I received.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
To somehow create more exposure of the plight of the Galgo in this country. It is up to all of us to not be quiet when we have the opportunity to speak about the Galgos. To grow the organization and use every avenue of promoting itself as is possible. The organization already does all of this...it is just that the cultural insistance of letting this horrible abuse continue, that is commonplace for Galgos in Spain, is a very very difficult uphill battle.
