I have volunteered with the Hobe Sound Animal Protection League for at least 10 years. I have been instrumental in fund raising for special events, auction building, fostering, adoptions, and recruiting. It is one of the best animal rescue organizations around. It is a no-kill cat rescue facility for approximately 180-200 cats. These cats live in little villages, or screened apartments--not cages!
We have a small army of loving and dedicated volunteers who come out regularly to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of our well-maintained sanctuary, and to clean, feed and love on the beautiful feline residents. In addition, we have a low-cost spay/neuter program, an active adoption program through PetsMart, and provide vet care for sick and injured animals. Our volunteers ARE the organization! There are some wonderful people out there who feel the same way about animals and who have joined forces to make a difference. We have only two paid employees, so everything we make, and do, goes for the up-keep and betterment of the cats in our care. We are also an active voice for animal advocacy. We are always looking for volunteers who can lend a hand, or share their talents or expertise for the betterment of cats.
