Review for Junior State of America, Oakland, CA, USA
JSA is the largest student-run organization in the country. It provides a safe and educational environment for people to speak their minds. You can go to jsa.org to see exactly what JSA is, but let me tell you what's not on their website. As an extremely active member of JSA I can tell you that there is statesmanship in every nook and cranny of this organization. Students learn, not only about politics and government, but how to be a statesman. Statesmanship is the most important characteristic in any politician, or any human being.
In addition to all of the internal politics (as we are a model government and have elections every year) JSA comes with some sort of indescribable friendship. We can call each other communists and fascists in the midst of heated debates, but at the end of the day, we are all friends. Life-long friends. I'm not sure what JSA puts in their water, but the comradery among these students is a bond so strong not even completely opposite views of politics, religion, and culture could break. It is truly the best thing anyone with any sort of interest in government, politics, or just plain meeting new people could do for their high school careers.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Increase the national identity of JSA. JSA creates an extremely cohesive environment on a state level but it's potential is far beyond a regional status. The love and friendship of JSA-ers is very strong among governors and summer school students only. While we are a family, there is always room for more. Most JSA-ers identify with their state, rather than JSA as a whole. We are not a divided force, but a united entity for the voice of the youth in America.
