Both of my children participated in programs by the Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida for many years. My daughter learned to appreciate dance and classical music, developed discipline and self-confidence, and learned to teach young children their dances. The kids in this dance company also are very supportive of each other - just the opposite of the competitive environment in which some companies thrive. Finally, she had an opportunity to travel to Europe twice and to host exchange students at home through ballet. Those experience were incredibly enriching. Now in college, she continues to dance, which is both expressive and wonderful exercise. My son also took dance lessons for two years. Since he has autism, it was a tremendous opportunity for him to socialize with kids his age. The integration with typical kids was especially good for him, as he'd never been able to participate in sports and always wanted to do what his sister did. Arts Ballet Theatre is a blessing to this community.
