Review for City Theatre Company, Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

City Theatre is perhaps Pittsburgh's most invigorating and groundbreaking theater; as well taking a prominent role in weaving unique tapestry that makes the Pittsburgh art scene has such an exciting and thriving regional asset.

Differentiating it from Pittsburgh’s other theaters is its focus on new works written within the last five years – which ensure that each season, its programming reflects a snapshot of today's world, with all its complexities, challenges, and delights.

By including City among your Pittsburgh Gives donations, you support and validate its steadfast commitment to nurturing new plays and new playwrights – including the Young Playwrights Education initiative that partners with local students and teacher to showcase and nurture our next generation of artistic leaders.

When City Theatre isn’t not showcasing a national or world premiere, it maintains a direct link to New York's finest. The first play of this season is a runaway hit in NYC, "Time Stands Still," and Pittsburgh is the first place to get it following that successful run. This is because visionary Artistic Director Tracy Brigden and her staff have been vying for it for 2+ years, even before its production in New York. That's just one peak into the ways that City Theatre has its thumb on the pulse of American theatre and actively helps to shape its legacy.

It is all of this that makes actors from all over the country want to get involved with City productions, and why Pittsburghers with a passion for something new, thought-provoking and remarkable commit themselves to being City Theatre supporters.
