We adopted our dog, Tipper, from D & R Rescue. We were in search of a Wheaten Terrier because my daughter and I have allergies. We found Tipper, a Wheaten Terrier Mix, on Petfinder. I filled out the application and immediately began communication with Karen to find out what more about Tipper’s “Mix” background in case it affected my allergies. Although Karen did not know, she was very helpful by answering all of my questions and addressing my concerns. She informed me about the refund policy and the return policy on pets that are not a good fit with families. She also had the groomer trim Tipper’s fur very low for me.

After a four hour drive, we finally arrived and were greeted by a very friendly staff that brought us the happiest dog on earth. We were placed in a room to get acquainted, go over paperwork and to see if Tipper’s fur would bother my allergies. After everything was taken care of, Karen asked how I was feeling. I told her that we would be taking Tipper home because if he was going to bother my allergies, I would have known within the first few minutes of our visit. The adoption fee was reasonable and he was up-to-date on his shots and micro-chipped. She also gave us pamphlets on being new pet owners and adoption. We keep in contact with D & R by sending pictures and donations. D & R made our experience as first time pet owners a great one. I would recommend D & R to anyone looking to adopt a pet.
