We recently adopted an 8 week old puppy from D & R Rescue. We named him Maximus (Max for short) and we are head over heels in love with him! Karen was wonderful to work with. She answered a million emails from us in a very prompt manner. All of our questions were answered and we knew this was a great rescue to work with. We’ve been looking for a puppy for a couple months and this was by far the most responsive rescue we’ve worked with. We were able to chat with our puppy’s foster, Marsha, who also answered several questions about him. We drove 4 1/2 hours to meet Karen with our puppy and the whole process was very quick. She was very accommodating to our family and we would highly recommend this rescue!
We were lucky enough to find this wonderful organization and adopt our newest member of the family - Milly.
Karen was very thorough with our adoption process. She made it clear how much she cared personally for the animals she adopts out. Her process is intense but assured us that we were adopting a puppy that was well cared for. Her records were on point and Milly has been a healthy happy addition to our family.
We could not ask for a better experience and would recommend this location to anyone seeking a new pup to adopt!!
The process for finding and adopting our puppy was so easy and stress free! We are so in love with our newest family member and are enjoying all the memories we are making together! We really appreciate D&R Rescue!!
I have been wanting a dog of my own since I was a little girl but the timing was never right between school and work. Now that I have a job with regular hours and is close enough to my house to run home on my lunch break, I began the search for my new dog. I looked at local rescues, pet finder and even considered buying a puppy from a friends accidental litter. None of the dogs that I found seemed like the perfect fit for me and I was so discouraged. On Sunday March 1st, 2020 I walked into my local PetSmart to buy cat food and they happened to be having an adoption event. It felt like it was meant to be and the timing was perfect. I was introduced to Karen of D & R rescue who introduced me to Robbie (now Charlie), the 4 month old Basset hound/ Labrador. I knew instantly that he was the puppy for me and there was no way that I was going home without him. Karen was so nice to take the time to tell me all about Charlie and show me all of the things that he came with in his puppy kit. Karen even took the extra steps to help me find the perfect sized crate and dog food and made sure I had the proper coupons for everything I was buying. It was clear to me that Karen loves what she does and wants to ensure that any animal in her care is given the best life possible. I am so grateful to D & R Rescue for introducing me to my new best friend! I will absolutely use them again in the future and refer any friends and family to them!
D & R was great to work with from start to finish. Info was readily available and Karen was great. We now have a sweet new pup. Many of the rescues I had contacted previously were either way too picky or would not even return my phone calls.
D&R rescue is a great group of volunteers. They took in some small dogs from a hoarding case. I adopted one of the puppies. They were very responsive to inquiries and the whole process was great. They obviously care very much about animals and my Vet said my puppy was in great shape. I recommend them and hope good things come their way.
I can't say enough good things about my experience with D & R Rescue. I adopted my sweet pup Polly through them. Karen was very responsive to my adoption inquiry and made the experience very pleasant. It's clear that they care very much about the animals in their care and want the very best for them. When we did the meet-and-greet at PetSmart, both Karen and Polly's foster mom Mackenzee were there. They took time to answer all questions I had and even walked through the store with me to pick out things she would like and made recommendations. They were professional and friendly. I am so grateful to D & R Rescue and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for their fur-ever friend.
We got Knox on 11/16/19 and just love him!!! He has really made himself at home and we couldn’t be happier!! Karen was great at answering any questions we had and always got back to us quickly. She gave us a whole bag full of goodies for Knox. We are so happy to have Knox has part of our family now!!
Karen was absolutely wonderful to work with. She was quick to respond and happy to answer all questions. We traveled quite a long way to pick up our dog, but Karen was very accommodating. We loved the "doggie goodie bag" filled with toys, treats, and other things to help get us started. We had a great experience with this organization and our new dog is a complete angel and so well behaved.
My girl, Calypso turns 1 today. D&R Rescue put me together with this sweet girl, and I have never been happier. Thank you
I had a great experience working with Karen from D&R Rescue! She was very quick to answer emails before and after the adoption process when I had additional questions. Thanks to her, I got to bring Ralphie home quickly and with everything we needed to get started.
I recently adopted my pup from here and I have nothing but great things to say about D & R Rescue Inc. I held communication with Karen throughout the process and she was amazing! I received quick responses and all of my questions were answered! The adoption process was very smooth, thanks to her! You could tell that they truly cared about the animals and made sure that they were going to a great home. Not only did I experience great service, I also received a doggy goodie bag filled with food, treats, toys, etc. My pup was also microchipped, spayed, nail trimmed, groomed, and came with a leash and collar. The rescue, and Karen, went above and beyond. I highly recommend them.
I recently adopted a female Corgi from D&R, and Karen White was great to deal with - she always had prompt communication and was very helpful throughout the process. Our new dog is just wonderful; she is adjusting well to life in her new home with my other dog and we appreciate all the help from this group!
Wonderful rescue! Great/quick at responding to messages. And always willing to help with anything! So happy they picked me to share my life with zella!!
We recently rescued a Cairn mix from a Humane Society in eastern Indiana. He lived with an elderly woman his entire 5 years and must have slept all day and night, awake only to go outside and to eat and didn't play with toys. We were searching all over the country for a female to keep him company. We found his twin in silver in a northern state but they wouldn't let us adopt her...only their state and one other. We found two more with similar restrictions, only 2 hours away, only 200 miles away. And of course we filed 4 other applications - one didn't even respond after requiring a $10 donation, 2 others waited to act on our application for 2 weeks until the dogs were adopted to someone else, and one said yes, and then decided since we didn't have a fence we were denied, we bought a fence and were "yes" again, then out of the blue she said she didn't feel "comfortable" letting us adopt and that was her final answer. We found Molly...what a face! Karen was a very pleasant, acted promptly and professionally on our application and approved us to adopt Molly the next day. She gave us the foster mom's number and we scheduled a meeting the next weekend. We all arrived about the same time and it was love at first sight. Molly and Mo got along very well from the start. It didn't take any time to fill out the paperwork and she was ours. What a great experience. The bag that had her vet records and our adoption papers and chip records also contained food, bowls, harness, leash, toys, kong, heartworm pill. What a generous surprise. Amy and Karen couldn't have been nicer. They asked for us to keep in touch and we did and sent pictures. Molly is teaching Mo how to play and Mo is teaching Molly how to take naps - a perfect match made in heaven -D&R Rescue heaven! Thank you so much.
Karen is fantastic, and our experience with D & R rescue couldn't have been better! Just yesterday we brought home our Jack Russell Mix Terrier puppy, now named Hildy (short for Hildegard). She is the sweetest dog, and thanks to her excellent fostering by Marsha is as easy as pie, even at just 4 1/2 months. Slept quietly through the night; no accidents so far; behaving herself wonderfully with our resident 9 y.o cat.
Great thanks to Karen and to D & R rescue for doing such a thorough job with these adoptions. And all of this in only 1 week! They are the best.
My chihuahua mix of 9 years passed away from unexpected cancer in February 2019. After months of just having my black lab mix who noticeably missed having a small companion, we decided to adopt another dog. We did research and a lot of searching to find a smaller companion with chihuahua in him to mesh well with our lab mix. We found Tag (now Gus) when he was 11 weeks old on petfinder.com for D&R Rescue! It was love at first sight for us and even more so when our lab met him. We have only had Gus for about 10 days and he's amazing. You can tell he has been fostered with his quick ability to catch on to commands with treat rewards. He came with a collar, leash, harness, a bag of puppy food, and toys/treats! This whole experience was awesome and I highly recommend this rescue!
Karen White at D&R Rescue is truly exceptional! We found a lovely little girl to be a companion for our other young rescue. Not only did Karen fully vet us to make sure that we would be a good fit, she offered to bring our new baby to Indianapolis as she was already transporting other animals thus saving me a lengthy drive (although I was more than prepared to make the trip!). Our little lady is healthy and loving - she fit in immediately. Not only did we receive a wonderful dog, Karen provided us with a huge goodie bag filled with treats, toys, collar and leash, shampoo, flea and tick treatment and a bed!
Found the perfect dog for us on adoptapet.com through D & R Rescue. Karen was very responsive communicating with us during the process. We adopted an almost 8 month old female Shih Tzu/Maltese. When we met with Karen to pick her up Karen was very friendly, patient and informative about the adoption. We drove nearly 6 hours to adopt from D & R Rescue and would do it again in a heartbeat!
We worked with D&R Rescue through petfinder.com and Karen White communicated with us at every step. We adopted a friendly little fella Maltese/Shitzu mix. Eager to please and a quiet 7 month old puppy.
Karen truly has the best interests of the animals at the center of her work. She devotes countless hours and her own funds to helping cats, dogs, and wildlife. (she is a licensed wildlife rehaber)
When she crosses the Rainbow Bridge they will need a stadium to hold the crowd that will be waiting.
I adopted my border collie mix Echo from Karen. She is a wonderful person and really cares about the animals as well as the adopters.
We lost both of our dogs within the past year and after only a few days without a dog the loneliness and sadness of not having a dog in the house was too much. So I got on Petfinder.com to find a dog. After an extensive search I found the profile of a dog that sounded perfect for us. I sent a message to request more information about the dog. In less than 12 hours Karen White replied to my questions and sent an application when I asked. Karen was so prompt communicating with us, answering questions and coordinating a meeting. The attention Karen gave to us was truly an unexpected surprise. Less than 48 hours from my initial request for information we met Karen and the dog we wanted to adopt. And we adopted that dog, the sweetest dog, Lucy. A new collar and leash were provided by the D & R Rescue, as well as some toys, treats, and poop bags. We didn't expect that. Lucy is already fitting in with our family, almost as if she's been here with us all along. What I love about this particular rescue organization, besides the excellent communication and coordination, is that the dog we got was in a foster home and they could tell us so much about the dog. This really helped us to know Lucy was the dog for us. We are so grateful to have this wonderful dog in our home. Thank you D & R Rescue!
Over 12 years ago, my husband and I contacted Karen White regarding adopting a puppy. Karen was so kind and so helpful in finding the right match for our home. We brought home our Sachi. A year or so later, I contacted Karen again and we adopted Sibahn. Both dogs had been properly vetted and had received wonderful care in foster homes until Karen found their forever home. D&R Rescue provides the best option for dogs who need to be re-homed. Proper research is done to insure the dog is going to the right home with the right provision for that dog's needs. Behavior evaluation as well as health evaluation are completed thoroughly to ensure the needs of both the dog and the adopting home are a good match. This can require difficult decisions, especially when dealing with larger breeds such as dobermen and rottweilers. D&R Rescue is a stellar example of how a rescue operation should be run.
I could tell the D & R team cares about the dogs they rescue and who is adopting them. I had a very positive experience.
Karen worked with our family in placing us with our much loved pup! Very thankful for this organization and all that they do for their animals!
Another wonderful adoption experience from Karen! We were looking for a male rottie companion for our Molly we adopted from D&R Rescue a year ago. Karen had a little girl in the rescue she thought would be a good match for Molly. We brought Maggie the rottweiler home 2 and a half months ago and couldn't be happier! Our two girls LOVE to play with one another all day long! Karen is so knowledgeable about animals! D&R Rescue is the best rescue I've ever had the pleasure of working with!
We found our new family member through D.R.. Molly is a sweet heart! We love her very much. She is so smart, goofy and wonderful just as Karen described.
Karen was so patient with all of our questions, texts and emails! I couldn't have picked a better organization to adopt through. It's very evident how much the dogs are cared for by D R Rescue!
Thank you for saving Molly so that we could give her forever home!
We had a great experience working with Karen and D & R Rescue, Inc! We had been looking for a dog to join our family and when we found Leela on Petfinder, we immediately reached out to Karen and submitted our application. Karen was very quick to respond to e-mail and to answer questions. She was also very professional, friendly, and her passion for animals is immediately apparent! We were also amazed at how much the D & R Rescue does for the animals under their care--when we adopted Leela, she was fully vetted, spayed, vaccinated, groomed, and we received a bag full of goodies (toys, treats, leash, collar, shampoo, etc.) and a lot of really useful booklets and information sheets on training, dog behavior, pet care, etc. We were very much impressed with our entire experience. Most of all, we are beyond happy with the beautiful puppy we brought home and who is now part of our family!
We were searching for a life-long desired dog for my 13 yr old daughter when we encountered D&R via web search. Karen and Marsha were great throughout the process, including willfully fielding several questions after we had picked up Bosco. Both ladies demonstrated genuine care and concern for our new family member!
We were looking for a dog for a few weeks when we found D&R Rescue on petfinder. We are so glad we found them! Our dog Dottie, formerly Penny, is great and she was very well cared for before we got her. Karen kept in touch with us as did Dottie’s foster mom when we had questions about her transition. Would highly recommend!
I volunteer with Chihuahua rescue in Indianapolis. We had heard there was a Rottweiler at Bloomington animal control that was owner relinquished. Karen took her time on a Saturday to investigate this as we found out sweet female. who thru no fault of her own had been surrendered. Karen is very professional, and examined, and took her home to find her a much better home , but this is just a normal day for a her. Bless you for saving this sweet girl. Greta Abella, .
Karen was very helpful throughout the whole process! Me and my girlfriend were traveling through Terra Houtte from St. Louis to Detroit. We found Pepper on petfinder and contacted Karen. Within an hour we got a response letting us know that we could stop by and meet her. The only time we could see her was on our way back to St. Louis on Sunday but Karen made the time to allow us to meet Pepper at the Animal Hospital. She was great and provided everything we needed to take Pepper home with us. Pepper is doing great and is a great sidekick for our larger dog Blu.
We stumbled upon this rescue site a few days after our our sweet Lucy (Mastiff/Dane) had to be put down. We found Major, who is a Boxer/Mastiff mix and knew right away that this was the little guy we needed. Major was only 6 weeks old and his momma had been hit by a car. We filled out the application right away and was accepted to be his forever home. We picked him up yesterday and he has adjusted so well in such a short time. His name is now Kevin and he loves to play with our Great Dane. The process was very smooth and they are very thorough in selecting homes for their dogs. Thank you so much!
Karen at D&R Rescue Inc. was very helpful in our adoption process, and was even willing to meet us outside of normal business hours so that we could see our dog beforehand.
My friend passed in July 2017, her name was Tigger and she was a Toy Poodle 18 years old. I told myself I would not have a dog again I didn't want to go thru that pain again, during the past year there was a emptiness in the house it was not the same. I decided to get another dog and it was going to be a rescue I needed the dog as much as it needed me. I searched the internet and found an 8 year old toy poodle she had everything I was looking for, I couldn't have found a better dog but what made me laugh the dog was at Doberman Pinscher and Rottweiler Rescue Inc. I E-mail them telling them I was interested in adopting the Toy Poodle, her name is Mitzi. I was sent an application. I immediately filled it out and sent it back. I was e-mailed back a couple days later and I was advised by Karen from the rescue that I had passed the application process and that I can come down to meet Mitzi and see if we were compatible. I was very excited to hear that, I live in Roselle Il and Mitzi would be at Petsmart in Terre Haute In, which is a little over 200 miles away. I was happy to go hoping Mitzi and I got along. I met Karen and Mitzi, Mitzi and I got along. I wanted to take Mitzi home Karen was so happy that Mitzi was being adopted, what was neat was Karens enthusiasm she cares for all the dogs in her care, she wants homes for all her dogs at the rescue. I completed my paperwork Karen advised me everything she knew about Mitzi I was given all her vet paperwork she had all her vacinations and her teeth were cleaned a couple days earlier. Karen told me if I had any questions to contact her, in my opinion Doberman Pinscher and Rottweiler Rescue Inc. is very enthusiastic and compassionate about dogs in their care. I give them an A+. Oh I haven't forgotten Mitzi and I are doing great she puts the warmness back into my house.
I am very proud to be associated with the Doberman Rottweiler Rescue INC (D&R Rescue) located in Parris Illinois. I have known Karen White the director of the organization for almost twenty-five years. This is my story.
Early in the year 1994, my soon to be husband received our first rescue from D&R Rescue a wonderful male Rottweiler by the name of Barney. Barney was named after the giant purple dinosaur, his children saw on TV. Barney the Rottweiler wasn’t purple nor was he a TV star; but he was just as kind and gentle as his namesake on TV. At that time of Barney’s rescue, I had a Pekinese by the name of Kujo; she was a feisty little thing who tried very hard to live up to her name.
One day my husband and I, along with the two dogs, were walking through Bloomington, Indiana when it began to rain. Now, Kujo hated getting wet; she would shake and shiver, her whole body would quiver. Barney sensing her discomfort, moved into position behind her. It was quite a sight. The large burly Rottweiler sitting regally with his front paws spread apart. The little Pekinese snuggling in between the massive paw all nice and dry. The passers by looked at my husband and I very strangely, as we just laughed and laughed. They did not get the joke; here was Kujo, the savage beast cuddled up under the protecting wings of Barney the purple dinosaur.
Barney passed away the day after we were married from lymphoma. In May 1994, Barney received the Good Dog Carl Award, from the American Rottweiler Club. My husband and I went on to adopt four more Rottweilers all from D&R Rescue.
On 8/4/18 I adopted Georgie (aka Peaches) from D & R Rescue. I had an outstanding experience. The adoption questionnaire was very thorough. I was assured that D & R Rescue was a very reputable organization. Once I was approved to adopt Georgie, Karen made arrangements for pick up. Georgie was everything that was described. She was obviously will cared for while with D & R Rescue. She came with collar, leash, food, treats and toys.
Georgie moved right into my home. She is self-confident and very sweet. She is one of the best dogs I have ever had, if not the best, in my long years of having dogs.
I RECOMMEND D & R RESCUE WITHOUT RESERVATION. THANK YOU KAREN FOR MY PERFECT COMPANION, GEORGIE.
We had a great experience adopting from D&R Rescue. Everything went smoothly from application to getting our new puppy home. They even gave us a crate! Harry is happy and healthy and we're thrilled to have him as part of our family. D&R is a great organization and they seem to really care about getting their animals adopted into good homes and finding the right match for families looking for pets. Highly recommended!
We were so happy to adopt our dog Ginger from a caring organization like D&R Rescue. Karen was very responsive to emails and was great to work with. She provided everything we could need to get off to a good start with our new family member. Ginger was well cared for by her foster family and has fit right in with us.
Karen is a pleasure to work with, she truly cares about the animals and doing what is best for them. She will listen to your needs and take the time to get the perfect dog for your family.
Such a treat!
Karen was great with assisting us during the adoption process. We found a puppy on Petfinder and got in reach with the shelter that worked alongside the foster home where the puppy was staying. She provided all the infirmation and was great at communicating when we had questions. The process was seamless and the puppy came with toys, food, all up to date shots, neutered, and even a leash. I would reccomend the D&R rescue to anyone looking to adopt!
This is the 2nd time since 2009 that we have gotten a dog from D & R Rescue, Inc..-In our book they are the best---they deliver what they say they will deliver---I have tried several rescue site on the internet--went thru more interrogation than my son and his wife went thru adopting 3 foreign children!!! And would never hear back from then---So glad I contacted Karen and we got a beautiful loving Shih Tzu mix 3 year old female--very loving and so glad we did---So happen to tell our story about our adoption of dogs!!!
On July 6, 2017, my son and I decided we wanted a shelter dog. We found nothing locally but 2 hours away in IL, we found our girl via his iPad. Karen White took us thru the steps to get the adoption by my filling out a very detailed application. I was so impressed with the concern that she would be in a proper home. Two days later we were picking her up at PetSmart in Terre Haute, IN. We were given everything a dog would need to get started with a new owner and she still wears the collar and uses the leash. Our Daisy had such great foster parents that Karen had provided for a few weeks before we found her. That 2 hours drive back home gave me a chance to bond with her and she is a blessing to us. Karen even offered to pay for an unexpected surgery but I refused her kindness. I hope anyone using her facility is as lucky as we were to get such a great dog from that wonderful shelter. Thank you again, Karen....we love her so much. Roberta Smith
I have been extremely pleased working with this rescue group. I was impressed with the thoroughness of the application and background check of me as a potential adopter. They were able to provide me with ample information about the dog I adopted so I was sure of a good fit in my home before I ever met him. I would highly, highly recommend this group to anyone
We were looking for a dog for our family, and we were having a hard time being the first approved. We were so blessed to have been able to get Marty. Karen was the wonderful woman who was a great communicator during and after the adoption process; she was helpful and informative. Our new puppy Marty has adapted to our family so well, and we would gladly go through this organization again.
After losing my childhood dog/best-friend last year it was time to make a new friend so I began my search. After some trial error I came across D & R Rescue who provided me that opportunity. After making my inquiry almost immediately I received a response and a line of communication was established and openly continued through the adoption process and even after. All of which was key considering I would have to make the trip from Indianapolis. Needless to say expectations were exceeded and for someone who was a first time adopter that was very much appreciated. Needless to say service was no less than stellar.
We just adopted "Lucy" from D & R Rescue. Karen was great- she answered all my questions and was always prompt with a reply. They set us up with all of the pup's information and directions for the next steps with the vet. They provide food, toys, and a lifetime microchip registration. Thanks D & R and Karen! We love our new puppy!
We are very pleased with how responsive and knowledgeable the people with D and R Rescue are. From our first contact and even through after getting our puppies home. Such a great experience. It is obvious they really care about their animals and making sure they are going to good homes. The details in their adoption kits—toys, leash, collar, treats, training tips, etc. So much care and work. Thank you for all you do!
We are so pleased with how helpful and amazing the people are with this group! Super responsive and knowledgeable. Great experience and we are loving our puppies! Thanks for all your work for animals.
We were looking at a dog to adopt through D & R. I filled out an application that evening and much to my surprise I heard back the next day that we had been checked out and approved. We were able to connect a day or two later and get our new family member. I was so impressed with how quickly she worked to help with this process. That is truly how things should work when there are so many dogs waiting for a family. Truly a great organization!
What a wonderful person Karen is! She is very knowledgeable and willing to do whatever she can to help. This is my second adoption process through Karen (we wanted to add to our dog family, so we adopted 2 puppies this time) and I had absolutely no qualms about the quality, health and background of the pups. She is straightforward and honest, and her compassion for animals is equal to her compassion for people. I would highly recommend contacting
D and R Rescue if you’re thinking about adopting a furry family member-you can’t go wrong with Karen’s help!
Very quick to respond on email and will work around your plans to meet your dog. Was nice, helpful, and gave us everything we needed for our new puppy, Walter (formerly Milo). Toys, treats, etc they provided it!
Our experience adopting our new puppy through D & R Rescue was most pleasurable. We had been looking for a puppy for several months as we are empty nesters now and were looking for a new addition to the family. We found "Sammi", a Cocker/Lab mix on Petfinders which had been posted by Karen. We knew immediately that this would be the perfect loving member of our family that we needed.
From the initial contact to the adoption meeting, Karen was great. Her responses to questions were very prompt and helpful and she was very flexible on meeting times for the adoption. Upon arrival, Karen and Sammi were ready and waiting in the lobby of PetSmart. After spending a few minutes with Sammi, we knew we made the right decision. Karen then helped us with the paper work, answered numerous questions, and actually helped us pick out a few supplies that we needed to get started. We were also pleasantly surprised to learn that PetSmart had supplied us with what you might call a "Starter Kit" for our new puppy, including several items that have come in handy such as play toys, litter bags, "Kong", dental treats, etc. Very nice!
We really appreciated all the work that Karen put into our adoption process and would highly recommend her to anyone wanting to adopt their next pet! Thanks again Karen!
We highly recommend D&R Rescue! We had been searching for a puppy for our family for some time, and we finally found a litter of pups on PetFinder at D&R rescue. Karen was very responsive to our emails and our application. She let us know details about the litter and once our application was approved, we quickly made plans to meet at PetsMart in Terre Haute, IN. The meeting with our new pup went very well, and Karen was able to provide background info on the new puppy and answer all of our questions. After a visit with the new puppy, we decided to adopt Abby. The process was very seamless and we were provided with food, toys, a leash, treats, medical records and microchip information. Everything we needed to get set up with our new puppy at home! Karen has been responsive to our questions even post-adoption. Again, we highly recommend D&R Rescue!
Earlier this month, we went on Petfinder to look for a Black lab. We saw a sweet pup and contacted D & R Rescue Inc to get an application--Karen from D & R promptly responded to let us know the puppy had already been claimed by another family. However, we were so happy, when a few days later Karen contacted us to let us know that another puppy very similar to the other one was available for adoption. We immediately put in our application for this new pup. We were impressed by how responsive this organization was to all of our inquiries-- they reviewed our application and lets us know our status all along the way. A few days later we arranged to go meet the puppy-- Karen told us we would fall in love and she was right. It was love at first sight when we saw our puppy- he was healthy, happy, playful and gave us lots of kisses. D & R Rescue provided all health documents for our pup, he was up- to- date with his vaccinations, neutered and microchipped; we also received advice on his next vaccine needs as well as tips on how to ease his transition into our home and a great bag of food, training treats, puppy care info, toys and a leash. We are very thankful to D & R Rescue for the efficient and thoughtful adoption process of our pup. Our experience with another agency was very disheartening and D & R Rescue brought us hope again! Our puppy is the sweetest puppy and has brought so much joy to our home, he is part of our family and we love him so much already!
Many thanks D & R Rescue!
~Laura and Brax
Pic- our puppy dog playing in the field- he loves finding sticks and old corn left from harvest.
D&R RESCUE was an awesome agency to work with. Karen White, our rescue worker, was quite pleasant and we could tell she had a genuine love for pets and finding them good homes.
We recently lost our puppy dog of 10 years and even though it has been hard to push through we decided that we wanted a puppy to love and have a furever home. D & R rescue has been absolutely amazing to us from the minute we contacted them. Communication has been on spot with any questions we have. Definitely would recommend this rescue and if we decide to get another dog in the future we would definitely go thru D & R.
I had a wonderful experience adopting my dog through Karen with D & R Rescue!! She was so helpful and went out of her way to make it a great experience by answering all of our questions and providing a bed, toys, a bag of food, and more for my new fur baby. She continued to communicate with me after the adoption to make sure that it was still a good match and that I didn't have any concerns. I am all around so grateful for such an awesome experience with the adoption process! THANK YOU KAREN!!!!
Karen at D&R Rescue was very responsive and worked with me to make sure I got the perfect puppy for my home. She went above and beyond about answering all of my questions and was flexible in helping me bring home the newest member of my family. So grateful to D&R Rescue!
I lost my 2 dogs in 2017. I started looking on pet finder for a new dog. I found Dash (now lucy) on D and R rescue. They were wonderful to work with. It is a great organization. I love Karen. Thanks for Lucy. We love her.
Through All Paws, we found Peggy Sue at D& R All Breed Rescue. We had lost our 13-year-old Boston Terrier six months earlier, and now were ready to share our lives with another Boston, preferably an adult dog. Peggy Sue's description prompted me to call Karen who gave me excellent "vibes" plus good information. After I submitted our adoption application and was approved, we went to meet our new family member. What a positive experience! This adoption exceeded all expectations and I would do it again in a heartbeat. The 650-mile round trip between southeast Missouri and the PetSmart in Terre Haute, IN turned out to be the most beneficial of journeys. Peggy Sue fit right in, she's the queen of the house, and we're loving every minute. Thanks, Karen, for making the perfect match.
We adopted our Shihpoo, Duncan, from Karen and our experience couldn’t have been better! We found him on Petfinder and I emailed her right away for an application. I received a very prompt response and was thrilled when we were approved! Conducting an adoption long distance (we are in Tennessee) may have its challenges, but not when working with Karen. She let me know that he had been neutered and groomed, but that she really wanted to spend some time with him to make sure he would be a good fit for children (we have 4!). I received pictures and information the following day letting me know that he was a gentle, playful pup who would be a great addition to a family with kids. Karen answered all of my questions, responded to emails quickly and I felt confident that this was our dog! We made arrangements to meet at a Petsmart in Terre Haute and surprised our kids with a trip there a few days later to meet, and hopefully adopt, Duncan. Karen’s knowledge, honesty, and candor was refreshing and made us completely comfortable taking him home with us after a short meeting. We are so thrilled with our newest family member- he is everything that Karen said he was, and more. In fact, our local vet commented that she couldn’t believe we had been lucky enough to find such a remarkable pup! Karen’s experience both with dogs and in rescue makes her an ideal person to adopt from. It is clear that she is looking to make the best match for both the dog and the family. We are so grateful that our paths crossed and recommend her and her rescue completely!
