Review for D & R Rescue Inc, Paris, IL, USA
We lost our dog (a rescue) in. When we were ready to get another dog, we searched via PetFinder, where we came upon a dog in rescue with D&R Rescue, Inc. The dog was located quite a ways from where we live in Louisville, Kentucky.
I started communicating with Karen at D&R Rescue. Her emails were prompt and thorough in answering my questions. We applied to adopt the dog. I was impressed by the application; clearly one must be serious about responsible pet ownership to work with this organization.
After all the references were checked and calls made to our veterinarian, we were cleared to adopt the dog. Karen gave us excellent directions to the meeting place.
Karen was very thorough about the dog's recent history, how he came to be in rescue, and offered us numerous suggestions about how to ease him into our home. She provided us detailed health records and encouraged us to contact her with any concerns or issues, though as far as I could tell, none were expected.
Karen also encouraged us to keep in touch from time to time and to let her know how the dog was doing. It is obvious that she cares so very much about these animals and wants to see that they go to loving homes.
I communicated with Karen several times after we brought our dog home. The fact that we took the dog and went back to Louisville did not conclude our relationship with D&R. Karen has always helpful in providing info, including her considered opinion as well as links to articles.
After we got settled in with the dog, Fletcher, I have continued to update Karen from time to time about how he is doing, and she is always happy to hear from us.
Our dog is perfect for us. He adjusted nicely and now is an indispensable member of the family. We adore him, and I am pretty sure the feeling is mutual. Reaching out to rescue another dog has done wonders in healing our hearts after the loss of our previous dog.
We are grateful to D&R Rescue, especially Karen, for making so much effort to see to it that we could adopt Fletcher and for the efforts made after the adoption to assure the best for the dog.
