Review for D & R Rescue Inc, Paris, IL, USA
My wife and I had lost our Dach after 16yrs and were sure we would not have another dog. Then my son sent me a e mail from D & R showing this lovely little Dach named Hattie who was looking for a new home. My 9 yr old grandson wanted a dog soooo bad but his brother had allergy problems and that was not to be...he saw the picture and said "grandpa you could get US Hattie and she could stay at your house and then I could come over and it would be like having my own dog and when I get big she could come live with me. Please grandpa....Then it was off Brownsburg, IN to just meet her. She was at a foster care family's home. Now in my mind I knew there was no way we would bring her home, unless she was mean or something. So when we arrived my grandson and I got down on the floor to see how Hattie would react. She was all over Kyle and me and that was it. I must go back a day or two to the application etc. We were told there was other interested in Hattie and we would be evalueated etc. so now after we were anticipating a new family member we had to wait and see. Long story shortened we were approved and off we went to IN. It took sometime for Hattie to adjust but it wasn't long before she was in charge of the house. We had one scarey thing when she slipped a disc in her back and required surgery or ........We rushed her to the University of Illinois Animal Hospital and they operated and we are so happy to say that today she back to her old self. Like I said our previous dach Rusty was with us for 16yrs and while Hattie has a different personality she is the most lovable little lady and we have grown to love her very much and we thank Karen and the staff at D & R Rescue and Bille Jo Weatherford(foster care) for the part they played in saving Miss Hattie and giving us and my Grandson the wonderful experience. Miss Hattie is asleep under my desk as I write this review and wherever you find me she is usally there and that includes the bed at night down at the foot under all the blankets.
Keep up the great work and find homes for the animals
