I was so sad to see my little baby, Heidi, fade away and needed to put her down. The best advice my vet had was to quickly find a new baby to love. I set about doing this, and I found myself on www.petfinder.com. Petfinder led me to many stories about dogs that needed my help, but none gave the the story that my Addy had. She was all alone in the world; her previous owner had passed away. D and R had a story that must melted my heart. I had to have that baby girl.
But apparently I wasn't the only one that had need to have Addy. D and R took my web application. They made calls inquiring about the integrity of the prospective parents. They had quite a few applicants for one dog. When they reached a decision, I was informed that I was Addy's new mommy.
What made me the most happy about D and R was that they didn't just give away dogs to just anyone. They carefully screened owners so that they would be doing what is best for the animal, not what is best for the human.
D and R is one of the best-run groups I have ever seen; they are organized and know what they are doing. I hope they are able to continue to serve the canine population (and the human) with their know-how and expertise.
