Review for D & R Rescue Inc, Paris, IL, USA
I contacted D&R Rescue in May of 2012 about the dogs they had on Pet Finder. I had lost my 12 year old tiny canine friend in February and had a 15 yr old gal that I was sure wouldn't be around much longer (she actually passed in Jan. 2013 at the age of 16). I also have a tiny Maltese. I couldn't imagine my house or life with only one dog (and a cat). I knew I wanted a small dog since we are retired and take many long weekend trips and dogs are included. I knew I wanted a little older dog and whatever I chose had to pass the test of my Maltese. I found a male ShihTzu at D&R Rescue and started communication about him. I emailed Karen several times and tried matching him with us as closely as possible before we met.
We traveled to meet our selected little boy and fell totally and completely in love with him. He is without a doubt my little guy. None of this would have happened if Karen and I hadn't communicated so much. She was so helpful and understanding of my constant questions and giving me straight answers about his personality.
We took our new forever love home with us the day we met. Four days later we took him on his very first vacation with us and his little canine brother. He was like a seasoned traveler on his first trip! We've had many trips together since then, smiles and laughs from everyone he meets and he oozes with unconditional love for everyone he comes in contact with.
The point of this is to say D&R Rescue took the time to make our adoption matched perfectly. They don't take in animals and push them out the door to just anyone. They spend the time and effort it takes to assure both dog and new home are the best for each other. Every animal deserves a voice like D&R Rescue.
