We rescued a dog from another shelter, and unfortunately that dog had parvo and passed 1 wk after adoption. My family was heartbroken. I contacted D & R rescue looking for another dog to adopt because my 2 nieces had adopted dogs from them. Karen was very helpful and understanding of our situation and met us on a weekend to come look at possible dogs to adopt. Karen, after meeting my family, suggested that we adopt, Pedro (aka Phil) a 5- 6 yr old yorkie. I was wanting a younger dog, but Karen explained to us that an older dog would be more resistant to Parvo. I cannot thank Karen enough. Pedro is a perfect match for our family. He has been with us for over a year and I don't know what we would do without him. He is a wonderful companion....and is spoiled just a little :) I definitely would recommend D&R rescue to anyone who is looking to adopt. Karen is the best!!
