Review for Tanenbaum Center for Interreligious Understanding, New York, NY, USA
My involvement with the Tanenbaum Center is primarily as a member of its PEACEMAKER IN ACTION network, a group of religiously motivated peace activists from many countries who are living out their faith as bridgebuilders and healers in conflict zones where religion is a factor in the intercommunal strife.
Tanenbaum is unique in the conflict transformation field in sponsoring this network and keeping the members in regular contact with one another. The ongoing relationships, as well as biennial retreats, provide encouragement and practical wisdom to the members of the network. I traveled to Nigeria in December, 2010, as part of a three-person interfaith delegation, sponsored by Tanenbaum, which enabled the entire network to support our Nigerian colleagues, who are working diligently and courageously to heal the bloody conflict between Christians and Muslims there.
