Started in 2003, TMF has committed funds to researchers all over the country to honor the wishes of its late founder that no child should ever have to face cancer. Its impact on personalized medicine and other initiatives in this rare disease space is extraordinary.

Every year I am prouder to serve on the Taylor Matthews Foundation board. The mission could not be more meaningful and the opportunity to make the difference of a lifetime pulls at my heart. The Foundation thinks broadly, invests with discipline, and keeps its cherished philosophies in everything it does. TMF aims to help sick children immediately and be a source of support to families in crisis. I can't imagine what could be more important.

I joined the board of the Taylor Matthews Foundation 11 years ago and am as inspired as the day I started. tay-bandz started out at the kitchen table of a beautiful 11-year-old recently diagnosed with cancer. Taylor fought her disease with bravery and dignity while also fighting the indignity of inadequate funding and research for pediatric cancer in the world's most advanced nation. When Taylor died, the foundation had already raised $750,000 through the determination of Taylor and legions of kids supporting her and the mission. tay-bandz has maintained its kitchen table sensibility with dedicated volunteers and almost no overhead. The foundation funds cutting-edge research aimed at personalized treatments for kids at every stage of their disease. tay-bandz understands that kids are not just small adults; they need a different kind of care.
