tay-bandz Inc., The Taylor Matthews Foundation continues to fulfill Taylor’s dream that “one day no child will ever have to face cancer” by funding ongoing life saving research.
Money donated by all the generous donors benefit children directly as there is no overhead expenses.
The work done by TMF is truly remarkable, and is only possible because of its donors
“Someday no child will ever have to face cancer” - Taylor Matthew, age 11.
Tay-Bandz, Inc was established by brave, smart, beautiful 11 year old warrior Taylor Matthews back in 2003. Even at such a young age Taylor understood how grossly underfunded cancer pediatric research is, so she took the matter into her own tiny hands, and started designing headbands, keychains, belts and jewlery in order to raise funds and awareness of this dreadful disease in hopes of SAVING a child’s life...
... and her hope & dream did come true, and I only wish she was here amongst us today to see it for herself!
Taylor’s nonprofit organization continued to fulfill her mission and dream, and today we are proud to say that dozens of children’s lives have been saved!
Money donated by our donors benefit the children directly by saving their lives in over 80% cases by having their DNA sequenced which at the present time is taking place at the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital in NYC.
I am a very proud of the work done by this amazing organization!
Thank you to all the donors! Because of your generosity more precious Lives are being saved every single day...xo
The Taylor Matthews Foundation pays homage to Taylor in every way. It reverberates her limitless love and kindness. I love donating to an organization where I trust the contributions have a direct impact!
I have volunteered for tay-bandz since its inception in 2003. I cant think of anything more gratifying than helping to save children's lives. tay-bandz is well run, well organized and only grants funds to critical research that can impact the lives of children with cancer TODAY!
I have volunteered for Tay- bandz for many years. This year donations and awareness have increased substantially due to the release of a new book, Paint Your Hair Blue, which tells a personal story of Taylor’s journey through cancer. It is a story of living, not dying, despite a cancer diagnosis.
A portion of the book proceeds will be donated to Tay- bandz. I am proud to be part of the endeavor which has increased the grants Tay bandz has funded
The Taylor Matthews Foundation is my charity of choice because nearly every penny of every dollar donated goes directly to thoughtfully chosen research programs aimed at eliminating childhood cancers and saving lives. TMF Thank you for making a difference!
The Taylor Matthews Foundation runs lean and close to every penny raised goes directly to fund cutting edge research to save the lives of children, our most precious resource. The Foundation invests wisely, closely monitors funded research projects and over the years has demonstrated success time and again.
To me investing in Taybandz gives me hope that children diagnosed with cancer today, have a better chance of living a full life. Beyond that, I believe that in years to come The Taylor Matthew Foundation will continue to play an important role in making pediatric cancer a disease of the past.
Excellent nonprofit! I have both donated and volunteered with them for many years and will continue to do so. You can be sure your time and money will have an impact.
This is a great nonprofit that I feel confident donating to and volunteering for! I know that they are creating real impact and advancement, and look forward to working with them for many years!
I have been donating to The Taylor Matthews Foundation for many years and admire the great work they do in and their dedicated support of pediatric cancer research.
Working with the Taylor Matthews Foundation has been an inspiring and motivational experience. I could not be more enamored by the work they do and their efforts to support children suffering from cancer. They are doing such crucial work to fund research programs and get children the proper care and treatments they need. I couldn't be more proud to work here!
I have been on the board since the inception of tay-bandz, in 2003. I have personally spoken to doctors/scientists who have told us that our research grants have saved lives.
Saving the life of a child could not be more meaningful. I am grateful to be involved with tay-bandz and I will never falter in my commitment to children with cancer.
The Taylor Matthews Foundation/tay-bandz is extremely dedicated to helping to save children with cancer. The foundation is now 13 years old and has never faltered in their commitment to children. Taylor Matthews founded tay-bandz when she was 11 years old and diagnosed with cancer. Her legacy continues through the foundation and 2018 publication of a book written to help parents of children with cancer, anyone with cancer or a chronic illness. The book, Paint Your Hair Blue, encourages people to live life to the fullest just as feisty and fun way Taylor lived her life..
Paint Your Hair Blue has raised awareness of pediatric cancer and generated significant donations.
tay-bandz represents the kind of grass roots, low overhead, pure play on making a difference today in the lives of children. It was founded by Taylor Matthews at the age of eleven and was diagnosed with cancer herself. Possessed of a feisty, determined and forceful personality, she came to know that there is precious little funding from the government for childhood cancer, (and shrinking), and so she started the charity to make a life saving difference for kids in real time. After Taylor's death, the charity has been kept alive in her memory by her mother with no paid employees and very little expense allowing for substantial funding of life saving research that is saving children in real time.
This is a story of valor. Taylor adopted and lived a philosophy that we all need to learn from. Living with cancer or any other problem and making your goal "not to die" is a losing strategy since we will all die sooner or later. Taylor adopted the approach of living as well as she could for as long as she could.
Her creation of tay-bandz was intended to make sure every kid could live that way as well and that some day no kid will ever have to fight cancer as part of their attempts to live well and live long. Every day tay-bandz strives to put money directly into research that makes a difference to kids in real time at the clinical and laboratory setting. Goal one, saving even one life, has already been accomplished. There are kids alive today because of the research funded by tay-bandz. Goal two, that some day no kid will ever have to face cancer, is in reach. With a staff of one and no salary expense, this organization moves the needle one kid at time. Bravo!
TMF has been an awesome foundation since its inception. It is committed to funding innovative research that reaches sick kids immediately. Overhead is kept to an absolute minimum ensuring that donor funds go exactly where donors want them to go. The Foundation website is a source of support to families in battle and the board works tirelessly to find funding opportunities nationwide. It is an honor to work in Taylor Matthews' memory and continue her dedication to helping sick children exactly when and where they need it.
I have had the honor of serving on the TMF board for over nine years. Every year I am more in awe. The foundation funds research that helps sick kids when they need it. TODAY. Countless lives have been saved and nothing could be more important. I am proud to be a member of this extraordinary organization and work alongside such passionate and committed people. It all started with the dream of an amazing 11-year-old that no one would go through what she had endured. We won't stop until Taylor's dream is realized.
My husband and I continue to support Tay-Bandz, a wonderful charity committed to saving the lives of children with cancer. Each year we dedicate our matching dollars from his employer as well, because we decided there was no more important goal than saving lives. The charity is named for Taylor Matthews, a truly inspirational young girl who taught us all valuable lessons on how to live every moment we have. The way in which Taylor’s parents have continued her legacy since her death is the most amazing story I know. Help them continue to fight for all pediatric cancer patients to achieve Taylor’s dream that one day no child will have to face this frightening diagnosis. Your charitable donations could not be put to a better use.
I am so proud of Tay-Bandz and the Taylor Matthews Foundation for the work they do to fight Pediatric Cancer. With the release of “Paint Your Hair Blue” this past June, more awareness and support has been generated for this worthy cause. I have seen this charity evolve into a fierce advocate for children and the extreme lack of funding for pediatric patients suffering from all types of cancer. The President, Sue Matthews, is my hero. She has made this charity, her daughter Taylor’s legacy, give strong purpose to her life. She is making Taylor’s dream-that someday no child will have to face cancer-come closer to being true every day.
I learned about the Tay-Bandz Foundation ten years ago. What inspired me the most was that it was established by an 11 year old girl with one specific. goal, no child should suffer from cancer. Taylor Matthew unfortunately lost her battle with this aweful disease, but her legacy and her fight live on through this amazing foundation. Tay-Bands funds pediatric cancer research so that one day Taylor's dream can become a reality.
Tay-Bandz is an incredible organization that helps fund research for pediatriac cancer. My close friend Beata is on the board and is such a wonderful person who truly believes in this cause. Their motto, "NO child will ever have to face cancer", inspires me to help them in any way I can. I've been to various events that Tay-Bandz has hosted and have witnessed the wonderful work they do. I nominate them to receive this "Great Non-Profit" award...they are an organization that truly deserves it.
Pediatric Cancers just do not receive enough research $$$ - because children cannot vote, they get overlooked. Tay-Bandz is focused on changing that outcome - on bringing cutting edge research to Pediatric Cancers. I personally cannot think of a better place to send my charitable dollars than this charity -- as we could be saving the life of the person that will someday find a cure!
Take a walk thru the Taylor Matthews Solid Tumor Lab at the Children's
Hospital at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and you will see research dollars making a real difference and saving lives! It brings tears to my eyes and is one of the many reasons that I am proud to support this amazing not-for-profit with both my time and money. Founded by Taylor Matthews, an amazing determined teenager that battled osteoscaroma cancer and never let it define her, Tay-bandz is dedicated to funding research specifically for pediatric cancer. I can't think of a better reason to donate -- because we can make a difference and hopefully with enough support some day we can realize Taylor's dream - that no child will face cancer!
Every dollar raised is carefully and thoughtfully put to work to find a cure for pediatric cancer. The money is used to SAVE lives—not just in theory but in real time. If you’re going to give to a charity, there’s no better than the Taylor Matthews Foundation!

I continue to be an ardent supporter of Tay-Bandz, Inc. This wonderful charity, founded by 11-year-old Taylor Matthews, is dedicated to funding research for pediatric cancer. With the publishing of the book, “Paint Your Hair Blue,” Taylor’s story is spreading all over the country. The inspirational tale of this extraordinary child has invigorated fundraising efforts and furthered Taylor’s dream that one day no child would ever have to face cancer. Join in this effort to make Taylor’s dream come true. It is a wonderful cause.
Tay-Bandz is a personal charity for my entire famiy as we were lucky enough to know Taylor and to watch her battle her cancer for 5+ years -- she continues to be an inspiration for all of us! This charity is making a real difference in the lives of children - througth their funding of critical tumor reseach and their continuous battle in DC to bring more attention and funding to pediatric cancer.
Tay-bandz,inc / Kids curing cancer raises awareness and funding for pediatric cancer research. Every Dollar received by this charity benefits directly pediatric cancer research. There is no overhead expense as the organization is run purely by volunteers. Tay-bandz is all about kids helping kids so that: 'someday no child will ever have to face cancer'. It is an amazing organization and i am thrilled to be a part of it!
It has been an honor to serve on the board of Tay-Bandz as a way to promote the legacy of Taylor Matthews and the mission of the organization to advocate, fundraise and support research to find a cure for pediatric cancer.
Taylor was and continues to be a great inspiration to the Tay-Bandz board members, volunteers, contributors and friends. It is a privilege to continue the work that Taylor started and to work so that one day, no child will be diagnosed with cancer. In the meantime, this organization is doing all it can to raise awareness and raise funds to develop new treatments. We deeply appreciate everyone's support. There is no donation too big or too small. Tay-Bandz is a charity that not only needs your support, it deserves your support.
Tay-Bandz is a powerful organization with an important objective. The world is a better place because of Tay-Bandz and its leadership!
I have been honored to be involved with this charity for over a decade. Since a shockingly small propotion of government funding goes to pediatric cancer research, private funding (such as this amazing one) is crucial in aiding in the efforts to terminating childhood cancers. This year I have been involved in 2 of the Taybandz organizations that spreads awareness and raises funds for this important cause. The money goes directly to research either at the Columbia Medical Center research center or specific clinical trials that the Taybandz board feels will benefit the most children. I know that this foundations has saved dozens of pediatric patients lives already! I look forward to being a member of Taybandz for my entire life.
Thank you our donors who continue to support us to save the lives of children with cancer by funding innovative cutting edge research that reaches children today.. because today is the only day a child has!
We have been working with tay-bandz since we were little kids.. It is am amazing organization founded by our cousin Taylor. In memory of her we work with tay-bandz to help save the lives of children with cancer.
tay-bandz is raising awareness and funding cutting edge research at Columbia University where each child's individual germ line is sequenced to identify DNA mutations. They are saving one life, one family at a time! It is a fabulous organization to work for.
Years ago, a mother's greatest concern was getting an extra chaperone for sixth grade camp because her daughter sleep walked and she was worried she might wander at night. That child, Taylor, never made it to sixth grade camp. Instead, she and her family started their battle with Taylor's cancer. Unfortunately for all who had the privilege of knowing Taylor, she passed away about five years later. Taylor wasted no time during those five years. From her hospital bed she began fund raising to help raise money to research cures for pediatric cancers. Her family, especially her mother, have continued those efforts in the hope of helping other families avoid their tragedy. Taylor's mom and the rest of her family and board members give so much. This is a wonderful charity which finacially helps to fill the gap left by the government to help find innovative and effective cures for pediatric cancers.
Tay-Bandz was started by my friend Taylor when we were so young that we did not honestly know what cancer meant. When I think of Taylor all I can remember is the everyday kid things we used to do. The truth is, Taylor was far from an everyday kid. Taylor was an extraordinary kid who had a dream and never quit. Being a part of Tay-Bandz allows me to keep living Taylor's dream and fighting for her cause. Year over year Tay-Bandz continues to out due itself with new ideas to raise money for pediatric cancer research and reach new audiences. The foundation has supporters who are as young as Taylor was when she was diagnosed and and people who have many more years of experience with the disease and the will to fight against it. Tay-Bandz will be a part of my life for many years to come and I look forward to fighting for Taylor's dream "one day, no child will have to live with cancer."
Tay-Bandz was founded by my best friend Taylor Matthews. Her greatest wish was that one day, no child would have to live with cancer. When Taylor created the foundation i thought it was great. On the day that Taylor died, i knew one of many ways to keep her dreams alive would be through Tay-Bandz. Since Tay-Bandz was created i have been a part of many different events and fundraisers. Pediatric cancer is a disease which not only effects the person who is diagnosed with it but if effects everyone around them. My friend taylor made it effect everyone in the most positive way cancer could effect a person. This organization continues to come up with innovative ideas for events and ways to spread the word throughout the united states about pediatric cancer so that it receives the attention in the medical world it so desperately needs. This organization is unlike any other nonprofit i have worked with. It takes the power of kids helping kids to an entirely new level. One day, i hope this foundation can help make Taylor's dream come true.
Tay-bandz Inc is an amazing charity started by Taylor Matthews and her wonderful family. Tay-bandz is dedicated to raising funds for pediatric cancer research and has made a difference in raising awareness of the lack of government funding for pediatric cancer research. The funds they have raised have helped in funding critical research.
Tay-bandz is an amazing organization that helps fight pediatric cancer. From adults to children everyone can participate at some level to raise awareness and funds for this very important and worthwhile cause. There are many opportunities to be a volunteer, a donor,, help spread awareness and help families in need. I am blessed to have known Taylor personally and know the tireless efforts her whole family has made to help eradicate pediatric cancer!
The Tireless campaigning of tay-bandz continues to make a difference in the lives of children so that Taylor's wish that no other child suffer again can come true. They are are focused and genuine organization that raises funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research with the highest integrity.
Through the inspired leadership of Sue Matthews, who lost her daughter Taylor to pediatric
cancer, great progress is being made to help children, and their loved ones, lead the fight
against pediatric cancer. Sue Matthews has emerged as an advocate for pediatric cancer awareness and has expanded the programs of tay-bandz to a national level, with significant fund raising efforts being targeted for medical research at leading medical centers. Join as a volunteer, a donor,, or to just learn more, visit the website at www.taybandz.org. Parents struggling with the needs of a sick child will thank you.
Taylor is an inspiration that helps us all understand haw big a difference compassion and courage can make in the world.
Tay-bandz is such an inspirational organization. Their products are truly high quality and they all have or had meaning to the little girl whose namesake and zealous spirit and drive founded the charity, Taylor. The fundraisers that are held are varied and spirited, and, even more than raising money, they raise awareness and they excite and consequently energize people to get involved in giving back. The organization empowers the young and old alike to step up and make a difference!
What an incredible organization! Tay-Bandz helps empower kids to lead the fight against pediatric cancer. They have an array of programs and opportunities that are tailored for kids of all ages and interests, and make it exciting and rewarding to volunteer. A personal favorite of mine is the new "Tunes For Tay" program, where a cappella groups come together and use their talents to raise awareness and donations for the cause!
Tay-bandz is a great organization run by volunteers whose sole goal is to find cures for childhood cancers that were unavailable to them. I am quite honored to be member of the tay-bandz board. The tay-bandz volunteers know too well the multifaceted challenges that face families diagnosed with pediatric cancers and it shows in their organization. The focus is on the medicine and identifying worthy research candidates, particularly those looking into personalized medicine.
One of the frustrations of cancer treatment is that it is very rigid with a set protocol requiring multiple treatment types to fail before one can look outside the protocol for answers. Unlike the protocol, cancers are not one size fits all, and even two people suffering the same cancer respond to treatments differently. With this in mind one important avenue of continued research that benefits from tay-bandz is personalized medicine, where an individuals specific cancer is regenerated outside of the patient, and treated to identify the best treatment for that specific cancer with the goal of identifying the best treatment for that particular patient suffering that particular cancer. These and other research programs are always at the forefront of tay-bandz research sponsorship.
A donation to tay-bandz is really a donation to boots-on-the-ground patient treatment and therewith cancer research. In many instances a donation directly supports the research and treatment of a particular cancer that an individual child is suffering from right now, today. Sadly, because of the cancer treatment protocols these treatments are often towards the end of an already long struggle the family has endured. But because of the research tay-bandz sponsors there is still hope, and the ability to offer hope is an immeasurable reward I receive by working with tay-bandz.
I have read about and supported the Tay-bandz organization since its inception. They are a dedicated group who have supported many families that are distraut with worry and confusion, and have guided these individuals to the information and leaders who can help them.
I have worked with Tay-Bandz since I was in the 7th grade and have seen it grow and touch people all around the world. Tay-Bandz continues to come up with innovative ways to raise money for cancer research while staying connected to its original community and expanding well beyond it! In the past year they have begun to make major headway reaching out to college campuses across the United States. I look forward to working on the new generation board and look forward to helping Tay Bandz grow and conquer the dreams of my good friend who started the foundation. With the help of this charity hopefully one day no child will have to live with cancer.
I have worked with tay-bandz for almost 10 years. I have watched them face challenges head on, grow and expand. It is an incredible otganization that truly has the passion and determination to help save the lives of children with cancer, end the suffering and increase cure rates through their funding of cutting edge new treatments. tay-bandz awards grants based upon many criteria. One we feel is critical is that the children will receive therapy relatively quickly, because today is the only day a child with cancer has.
I have advised and volunteered for many not for profits, and tay-bandz is distinguished in it's message of the power of one voice, one person to make a difference in the world, just as the young founder, Taylor Matthews showed in her short life. I love the focus on research and curing kids, and I am impressed with the community of love and support that surrounds this charity. I see new directions for creating meaning for this charity through an exciting campaign that will capture the power of voices raised to support research, and life. Sue Matthews, the Executive Director, and Taylor's mother, is tirelessly moving the charity to new levels of visibility and outreach! Bravo tay-bandz!
Tay-Bandz is an incredible charity, with so much love behind it. I have been beyond lucky to have the opportunity to work with them, helping "KIDS CURE CANCER." The board and volunteers are so passionate and the Tay-Bandz family really does feel just like that- a family. This is the kind of charity that has overwhelming potential to do a lot of good!
Tay-Bandz is a terrific organization that helps to fund research for pediatric cancer, giving the money to the children who need it the most. Tay-Bandz was founded by an incredible girl, Taylor, who had more heart and more spunk than most people I know, and remains a well-run, effective, powerful organization that works hard to achieve Taylor's dream that "One day, no child will have to live with cancer." So proud to be a part of this amazing non-profit and I know that they will continue to do great things.
Tay-bands is the kind of charity organization the worl needs more of. Started out of the passion of a beautiful young girl struck down by cancer, it is kept vibrant and relevant by her mother and, family and friends. Taylor started the organization out of a pure attempt to keep any other child from knowing her pain. Every dollar goes to research and funds solutions at the ground level- helping kids today with ideas that would go unfunded in the bigger world of adult cancer research. Unlike the big money raising machines that funnel millions of dollars through a maze of processes to unknown places and purposes, Tay-bandz is savings actual kids one day at a time. Awesome!
Taybandz is an amazing organization that raises money for Pediatric Cancer Research. Taylor, the founder, was a motivational, inspiring and extremely kind hearted girl. I have never met someone with so much drive to try to change a child's life. I am also honored to work with Taybandz and will always be available to help in any way I can.
Taylor Matthews was a beautiful 11 year old girl diagnosed with a deadly disease. Throughout her many battles, she always fought with courage and never lost the drive to help others thus tay-bandz was born. She was determined to not have any child die from this deadly disease. Her parents have been thoroughly committed to keeping her wishes and have dedicated themselves to achieving Taylor's goals. Pediatric cancer does not get much media attention and private donations are extremely important. I lost my husband to a very aggressive cancer two years ago and during his illness I saw the pain of parents whose young children were fighting for their lives. They had incredible courage to fight while watching the suffering of their children. It was one of the most heartbreaking things I have every witnessed. Tay-bandz is helping these children and I am proud and honored to help sustain Taylor's legacy.
This is a wonderful organization run by people with so much love and heart. They are completely dedicated to their cause and make a personal connection with everyone that works with them. It is an honor to be a part of the Tay-Bandz mission!
Taybandz makes a difference - it takes $20,000 to make a difference and save the life of a child - and it is because of the research that Taybandz supports that real lives are being saved! It is an organization that truly follows its mission and anyone supporting it can know that their donations make a real difference!
Very good people. Dedicated and always acting with the utmost integrity and concern for finding a cure for pediatric cancer.
I have worked on the strategic plan for the tay-bandz "Relay for Tay" which is planned for September 2012 (Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month). Several Colleges/Universities are involved in the Relay such as Amherst, Bates, Bowdin, Colgate, Vanderbilt, Washington University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Wisconsin, etc. It is going to be a very exciting event run in memory of Taylor. The work has been very inspiring. I have been able to help tay-bandz organize the event and this work has been very rewarding.
tay-bandz/kids curing cancer was founded by Taylor Matthews, while she suffered a 5 year battle with cancer ending in February 2008 when she lost her battle. She was a true inspiration and a person who, by the power of one, made an incredible difference through positive action. Since tay-bandz was set up as a "kids helping kids" non-profit Taylor inspired well and sick children to make a difference. She always though one person could make a difference. She did and she helped so many others too. I have experienced the joy of watching Taylor and other children join together to life each other up and bond together to help children in need. Since Taylor lost her life many have been involved with tay-bandz/kids curing cancer to make her wishes, dreams, and hopes become eternal.Taylor's monetary goal was to raise $1,000,000, which she has now exceeded, but really her goal was to save the life of a child. tay-bandz is currently funding trials at major cancer hospitals. Unlike traditional trials work is being performed in the labs while the drugs are also being given to actual cancer patients. Many traditional trials result in administration of drugs 3-7 after the initial work has begun. We hope this way delivery of cutting edge drugs can become available to kids much quicker. Every day in the life of a cancer patient is the most important day of their lives. My experience has been one of extreme happiness, joy and has been so rewarding to see Taylor's dreams become true. The solid tumor research lab at Children's Hospital of Columbia Presbyterian was recently dedicated to Taylor and tay-bandz. That was a wish come true!!!
tay-bandz is a 501 C 3 dedicated to raising awareness and funding pediatric cancer research. tay-bandz was founded by Taylor Matthews, who was at the time 11 years old. We lost Taylor when she was 16 years old but her wishes, dreams and hopes remain eternal as her foundation grows and grants research funds.
