Review for Vallejo Community Arts Foundation, Vallejo, CA, USA
VCAF, as it is know, is a jewel of an organization serving Vallejo, CA and all of Solano cCounty and beyond. It is governed by a hardworking and dedicated all volunteer Board who spend many hours developing and promoting activities to keep the artsw vibrant in the community. The Summer Children's Art Camp gives children from 8-15, two weeks of multiple media experiences in many varied aspects of art; from painting to photography to a live stage production. Additionally, VCAF oversees Art Windows, a program that provides local artists the opportunity to display their work in downtown vacant store front windows. This provides them needed exposure and prevent blight. Othr initiatives are too numerous to mention except for the management of the beautiful refurbished Empress Theater that provides a wide variety of live entertainment for the community. VCAF keeps the arts alive in Vallejo and throughout Solano County and I am proud to be a Board member.
Review for Tools of Learning For Children, Sujjisujn, CA, USA
As a seasoned Board member I am continually proud of the accomplishments of our organization. Through our Citizenship program which provides pocket constitutions to High school students we promote learning to assure as these children grow they are knowledgeable about our government and how it works and what the tenants of this Country. Feedback we receive indicates that the constitution copies enhance the students learning experience and serve as a ready reference for years to come.
Our Front Line Phonics program, distributed to pre-schools public and private, is giving children the necessary tools to be successful in reading as they enter elementary school. Parental and teacher feedback assures us that this program is doing its job. We plan to expand our reach of schools served and introduce a companion math program this year.
Review for Tools of Learning For Children, Sujjisujn, CA, USA
Tools of Learning continues to support children in being successful in school form the very beginning. The tools provided to pre-schools by Tools give children an effective and fun tool to assure that they are prepared for success when they enter school by having the required reading skills. Tools continues this work year after year with almost no overhead and an all volunteer Board dedicated to it's mission.

If I could change one thing I would find a benefactor who shares our mission of providing children with the necessary tools to be successful in school and become literate and successful adults.

Review for Tools of Learning For Children, Sujjisujn, CA, USA
Tools has been promoting chidhood literacy for years by providing pre-schools of all sizes and shapes with teaching materials that combine phonics principles with good old fashion music and fun to get children reading- ready for kindergarten. Through the efforts of our tirelsess leader and commited Board we have seen many students bloom in the classroom because they have had this preparation. We are currently expanding our scope to provide math material in the same fun and music filled approach. We have dedicated pre-school and kidergarten teachers volunteering their time and expertise to get this expansion off the ground. Our gola is to expand the number of pre-schools we can reach, especially those small independent schools with little funding to support them.
