Review for Knights of Heroes Foundation - Rocky Mountain Ascent, Colorado Springs, CO, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Knights of Heroes is simply the best grass-roots organization I've ever seen, heard of, or worked with. I have served as a volunteer mentor with them for almost a decade and have seen first-hand the long-lasting and incredible impact for good this organization brings to the lives of young men and women who have endured such immense loss.

I have been a boys’ mentor with Knights of Heroes for a number of years now and I have never in my life heard of or seen another organization quite like this one. The positive impact KOH has on these kids is beyond words. The group of mentors is the most impressive bunch of fellas I’ve ever worked with. I’ve watched boys come up through KOH from year one through graduation and the transformation in their life is unreal. Terrified, angry and confused youths are transformed into courageous, mature and bold men who often are already impacting the world around them for good. I am honored to be a part of Knights.

Knights of Heroes does it right! Personal connection and mentoring for the kids is foundational and effective with these boys. I've been a volunteer at this camp for four years now, and it's the most impactful week of my year. I'm amazed at the progress the boys make from year to year. The same boy I had four years ago who wouldn't even ride a bike, just hiked 29 miles in four days and crossed the continental divide .... Twice! His confidence and resilience is inspiring and KoH is one of the leading factors in that success.

I've been a mentor for Knights of Heroes for two years and have seen first hand the immense benefit that KoH provides to these kids. It is so much more than just a summer camp. The personal connection the boys make with each other and the mentors lasts all year long. I've watched these boys' confidence visibly increase during the week of high adventure activities each year. In my 12 years of military service, I've never seen a more effective organization that blesses families of the fallen. The personal touch KoH provides to the entire family (Moms, boys, girls and siblings too young for the camp activities) is absolutely unmatched and more beneficial than a simple review can even begin to describe. And the fact that this grass roots organization is 100% donations based is even more incredible based on the unprecedented blessings it provides. Wow.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

provide more funding so KoH can bring even more families to camp next summer!

As a Youth Mentor for Knights of Heroes (KoH), I've been incredibly impressed at the year-long support KoH provides for the kids. A grass roots organization, this one stands out from the crowd with immense levels of personal support, care and love. Other organizations provide a solitary experience, or give much needed funds - but KoH is the total package deal.
